Great book!

I also recommend the Manga Messiah comic book Bible series. It help my friend's son get through cancer. Although it's not specific to a condition, it works wonders! I bought these books from bibleleague.ca because they are also a Christian charity and the money will be spent wisely.

Will - That's a fair observation. It's one I've found surprising, really. I thought going into this that I'd be reading lots of really good books. While there have definitely been some winners, I've been surprised at how many of them are really just junk.

This is definitely not an observation on this particular book, at all. But I wanted to say, Tim, that the unfortunate thing about this project is that most of what makes the bestseller list is kind of, well, crappy. I mean, I just think it's kind of rough that you have to spend so much of your time reading pretty lame books. I appreciate reading your reviews usually, though, but I wonder how you like reading these things. That's all. Thanks man, Will

I grew up before AS was known, and always wondered what was wrong with me. I couldn't do what was effortless to anyone and everyone else. By the early 2000s, I was ready to just give up on life because nothing worked and none of the advice for change or self-improvement made any difference. Then I found out what AS was, and everything suddenly made sense, and I finally understood what was different about me. Whatever you think about AS, the truth is it's a different way of processing information about the world around someone who has it.

Tim,
thank you for sharing this review. Four years ago our oldest son Isaac who is now 8 years old, was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. It has been a very steep learning curve for both me and my wife, and has had a big impact on all of our family. I also have Aspergers and I'm also a pastor. Some folk might think that those two things could never go together, but I just thank God that he called me and depend on him for each day. If there's one thing I would want to urge people to do if they know a family with a child with autism. Please pray for them, please support them in any way you can. Please get understanding of what autism is and how it impacts on people's lives. It's reckoned that up to 80% of couples with a child with autism separate or get divorced. Autism can place a great deal of strain on relationships. Some parents find it hard to cope and some are in denial that their child has autism. Many kids with autism don't sleep well, and neither do the parents. These families just need people to try and understand, come alongside and give help where it's needed.

There is a dear family to me who have a daughter with Autism. Christ is first in their thoughts about all their sorrow and pain. And they also seek professional help, and yet are discerning, and not trusting in the world, but more so in the Scriptures.
There's a fine line we need to walk. Spiritual and physical.

Thanks for the review. I like Curt Schilling. He should be an Bal'mer Oriole, but we let him go. That was a bad move.
