Psalm 48 as Master Anthem for the Church’s Mission of Worship
Psalm 48 is epic. It is a great song that exalts God and celebrates his goodness in a sort of “master anthem” for the church. The city mentioned is the community of believers centered on Christ the King, and just as in the lines of the psalm, the hallowed renown of God is to begin and rise up from the worship gathering of the assembled believers and spread far and wide. The influence of the church upon the world is first and foremost to be about the worship and magnification of God, the heralding with passion of his glory and splendor, and the proclamation that he reigns and rules forevermore.
