When I was in college, I was blessed to be taken to have coffee with Mrs. Schaeffer, and when she alluded to a book she had written, I replied "Oh, do you write books too?" (Ah, youth. :) ) When she politely informed me that, yes, she's written a book or two, I immediately began reading hers as well. My habit of helping my non-reader kids "draw" the sermon comes from her, and we have great Sunday artwork as a result.<br /><br />2. One of my mothers in the faith studied at L'Abri several decades ago, and everything she learned there informed how she raised her five wonderful kids, and now how she's helping me raise mine. She's watched my kids and made dinner for my family so I could take further education classes, she borrows books on art and music for my girls to enjoy, and she and her husband came over for Thanksgiving breakfast dressed from head to toe as Pilgrims. My children adore her, and so do I. <br /><br />Multiple generations of the Starke family are indebted to the Schaeffers too. It is difficult to imagine where my path of life would have led if it were not for the Schaeffer books I read as a college student in the 1970's. I praise God for the legacy of his life and ministry.
