Interview with VanDrunen on Bioethics

Cisco Cotto recently interviewed David VanDrunen on the radio about his new book on bioethics. They cover topics like infertility, contentment, end-of-life issues, etc.

  1. This was a nice interview. It would have been good to hear him get into specifics about what he means by “preserving embryos.” He came across as a bit too non-committal overall, in my view. It is proper for us to wrestle with issues, but people are searching for some specific ways to approach the issues. Perhaps he lays out some more helpful guidelines in the book. The “end of life” discussion was particularly weak. The host didn’t help because I don’t think he asked the right questions. Basically they just talked about how Christians should view death, but never got around to really dealing with the difficult bioethical issues surrounding the euthanasia issue.
