I’m intrigued by your comment and have been wrestling with that in my mind the last couple of days. I wonder though if the difference is that while God chose to put me here in America, I didn’t become rich (in view of the rest of the world) by perverting the Gospel.

With all due respect, you are kidding, right? We can’t judge his motives for fleecing millions around the world, incl. in my home nation of the UK. Let’s put aside his lifestyle – the damnable nonsense that comes out of his mouth is enough to condemn the man, let alone his antics of declaring people “healed” when they aren’t. I understand giving folks the benefit of the doubt, but that doesn’t apply to guys like Benny Hinn – almost 30 years he’s been shaking down the sheep and he has consistently shown himself to be a false prophet, wolf in sheep’s clothing, cloud without rain and generally every other appellation given to false teachers in Scripture…

I guess those figures are concrete? Who cares where he sleeps? Who cares what car he drives? Those who support him obviously accept that — so why do we get so excited? What is being taught is infinitely more critical. Somehow, financial figures over those we “oppose” become like red meat. Let’s be honest–alot of people in the “conservative” mold are making alot of money in publishing — alot off money…We just get som excited over these numbers of how much their hotel bill was or the gas bill for the jet…If they are committing crimes they should be punished. If they are allowed by their donors to live a luxurious lifestyle — that is their problem. The assumption from many (on this site/issue) is they seem to have a ironclad ability to see in Benny Hinn’s soul and know (without a doubt!) his motive for all he does…I guess i do not possess that gift.

My response was the “stats” Justin posted below the video clip of the price of his home, jet, car, etc. That is trivial in comparison to the false teaching. I could have stated it better. We just need to get off this “kick” of who lives where and who drives what, etc.

All the indictment you need is from Hinn’s own mouth. He claims he felt called to ‘preach the gospel.’

As donsands has pointed out, he doesn’t preach the gospel, he perverts it. What I take from Hinn, however, is a sobering reminder for myself as a pastor/preacher. I actually assume that Hinn probably started out with a genuine desire to serve God. Somewhere along the line his heart gave in to sin and he has now become the very definition of a false teacher. While I do condemn Hinn’s actions, I pray his life will actually make me pause and weigh the evil inclinations of my own heart. Am I really that different? Apart from God’s sustaining grace and the accountability found in the Word and true fellowship, I fear I could easily be that man. Maybe without the jets and mansion, but God help me that I don’t become a poorer version of Benny Hinn.

On that note. Pray for your pastors and do your part, as faithful Christians to hold your pastors accountable to the Word of God and the Gospel of Christ.

When an interviewer is speaking with Benny Hinn (as I have), after about ten minutes he cannot help but conclude that he is being had by everyone in the room – not only Hinn, but even more so by his handlers. The supposed “outbursts” and “interruptions” by Hinn’s publicist are all part of a well-conceived plan to make it appear as if Hinn has nothing to hide, and to effectively shift the blame to his “people” for not allowing him to be candid. He did the same thing to me ON RADIO – in response to some of my questions saying that his “lawyers” were telling him he had to go but that he really wanted to answer my questions in spite of them.

And notice his escape clause when his “healings” are shown to be tosh?

Ignorant skeptics sometimes compare Jesus Christ to Benny Hinn, on the basis of vague similarities like the fact that both men have been viewed by many people as miracle workers. I have an article here that discusses some of the many differences between the two men. A resource on Benny Hinn that's seldom mentioned is Yves Brault's Behind The Scenes: The True Face Of The Fake Faith Healers (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Dorrance Publishing Co., 1997). Brault attended Hinn's church, and he writes about some of his family's experiences with Hinn and other individuals and ministries. Hinn promises miracles, then tries to prevent investigation of his alleged miracles. You can watch a devastating expose of Benny Hinn online, by CBC's The Fifth Estate, here. Hank Hanegraaff of the Christian Research Institute asked Hinn for his three best-documented miracles. When the documentation was provided, all three were found to be inauthentic. Hinn has repeatedly been documented to have made false prophecies. He predicted that Fidel Castro would die in the 1990s, for instance.

Hey Tim, what does this tell you about Benny? Using the churches funds. The guys crazy in love with filthy lucre. I can surely say, “But for the grace of God, there go I.”
But this man needs to be marked for the way he preaches a false gospel, and a false Jesus, which leads to his love for money.

I don’t believe Sproul and MacArthur love money like Benny.
