I would not recommend the book. He argues that "receiving the Spirit" means "receiving the indwelling Spirit" which is nonsense and demonstrably false. Second, he argues that OT believers were not permanently indwelt along with the notion that regeneration does not necessitate indwelling. Both of these assumptions form the premises of his book and are never proved. These two issues, presupposed from the start and argued throughout circularly, mark the book as fatally flawed.

He has written a very helpful book called "God's Indwelling Presence: The Holy Spirit in the Old and New Testaments" (I think this is the same guy). It is excellent and good for all to read.
