  1. What a great man of the Lord. What an honor for Mark to interview him.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. What does Driscoll mean by Sproul giving his stuff away free? Look slike everything at the Ligonier store costs?? Please help…

  3. Thanks for sharing this! I listen to the Renewing Your Mind podcast everyday, and I have such respect for Dr Sproul. Looking forward to the other parts :-)

  4. Driscoll didn’t speak crass here, and I still understood everything he said. What a novel approach.

On another note, Sproul is wonderful, and I have benefited from his ministry greatly. Thanks for sharing.

    • Lane,

I know Mark Driscoll does not want to be identified with his former sinfully-rough speech. Have you heard his message from the 2008 Desiring God conference?

It would be encouraging to see us collectively demonstrate the kind of love toward Driscoll that “keeps no record of wrongs” and remember that he is on the same path of progressive sanctification as Mark Dever, R.C. Sproul, and the rest of us.

      • oops, confused this post with another (involving Mark Dever) that I was reading at the same time. Apologies for the randomness.

  5. Dr Sproul’s ministry is primarily responsible for my coming to belief in the doctrines of grace. There are others, John Piper, John MacArthur, James White, Al Mohler, and so on. But Dr Sproul is primary. And his work on apologetics (where I discovered him in the first place) is first class within the whole of the history of the church.

I am indebted to Dr Sproul far beyond what I can even express. (And yes, I do support his ministry financially!)

  6. If it wasn’t for God allowing me to pick up Sproul’s “Grace Unknown” (now titled “What Is Reformed Theology?”), I’d probably still be a semi-pelagian. Praise God for godly men like Sproul!

I also think it is so cool that he’s never been online and still can have such an incredibly large impact (most of that is probably unknown to us!). More proof that you don’t need to be tech-savvy to preach the Word!

  7. how do you embed this video?

  8. Thanks for posting this video. I have never heard of him, but now I shall look into the Podcasts. Thanks once again.

  9. This clip was stinkin’ hilarious. The best part about it was watching Driscoll being completely dumbfounded and mind-boggled at just how far ‘behind the times’ Sproul really is.

I still can’t wipe this smile off my face.

    Thanks Justin. ;)

  10. Erik,

It would be good to remember that 2 to 3 million people hear R.C. Sproul everyday on the radio. I would be very hesitant to be so smugly critical. I suppose if you had that much influence in the church you could choose not to surf the internet all day. Also, it would be good to remember that Sproul has lots of good men surfing the internet for him. Just another benefit for having had so much far reaching influence. I also wonder whether you heard what he said about the apostle Paul in the video.

  11. I for one am grateful that Dr. Sproul is behind the times because I recently received a hand signed note from him in response to an e-mail I had sent Ligonier Ministries thanking him for his book The Holiness of God which I had just facilitated for a Christian women’s book club. That note is now stuck in my book and I know it will be a thrill to reread it years down the road when that book gets pulled off the shelf or when one of my kids reaches the maturity in Christ to pull that book off the shelf and see that the author cared enough to send a hand signed note in response to my e-mail. Thank you Dr. Sproul!

  12. Erik,

My deepest apologies for coming across so harshly in my tone. I guess I am not sure why something like R.C. Srpoul not using the internet would be somthing to laugh at. I had very mixed feelings about the interview when I saw it. Forgive me for coming across in a combative way.

  13. I believe Dr. MacArthur has not been on the internet either. I live in Louisville, KY and served the T4G speakers and heard them talking about Sproul and JMac never being on the internet! Crazy but really cool.

  14. He uses IPhone for STEELERS Updates! What more could one want? Good theology, Good Football — Good Man!
