God’s Outrageous Love

On December 26-27, 2009, Bob Glenn of Redeemer Bible Church (Minnetonka, MN) preached an outstanding sermon at Bethlehem Baptist Church. It was called “The Outrageous Love of God,” and Glenn unpacked the heart of the gospel in Jonah 4. His main point was that until you’re outraged by God’s love, you’ll never think it’s outrageous; until you’re offended by God’s love, you’ll never be overwhelmed by it. His twofold aim was that (1) you see that God’s love does not fit with your natural sensibilities; (2) you leave amazed, thankful, and excited about God’s love for you through the gospel.

I was helped by this sermon, and recommend listening to it:

  2. I’ve been impressed that one of the lessons of Jonah is: when we forget to be amazed by God’s grace to ourselves, we will cease to show grace to others.
