David Murray—a thoughtful brother who is a real gift to the church—recently wrote a post entitled “Is ‘Holy Hip Hop’ Holy?” He is bothered by the promotion of Christian rap on sites such as this one.
I didn’t find the argument very compelling—it commits the genetic fallacy and the guilt-by-association fallacy and is not careful in distinguishing between public worship, all-of-life worship, and edifying entertainment. But it’s a discussion worth having.
[Update: Dr. Murray has written a more careful post on the topic here, as a follow-up.]
Instead of writing a full-scale response, I thought maybe Owen Strachan could rap a response to it.
You can listen to it here.
