We recently bought The Action Bible: God’s Redemptive Story for supplemental Bible story reading. It’s basically the major stories of the Bible—251 of them, Genesis to Revelation—retold as a graphic novel (with 750 pictures).
From what I’ve read thus far the text is relatively restrained and sensitive, and the depictions are well-researched. (The marketing copy, not surprisingly, is a bit over the top.)
The text, it seems, is from an older Bible Picture book, and cartoonist Sergio Cariello —a Christian who has worked for DC and Marvel Comics—supplied the new drawings.
