How to Write a Good Book Proposal
How to Write a Good Book Proposal avatar

For aspiring authors, this short e-Book by Michael Hyatt (CEO of Thomas Nelson) is a very helpful guide to writing a book proposal—an essential part of getting published by a publishing house. It’s relatively expensive for its length, but if you get a book contract as a result, I’m sure it will be worth it!

Authors commonly think they should write the book first, then the proposal, but Hyatt explains why this is almost never the publisher’s preference.

Another common assumption is that the proposal is merely a tool to sell the publisher on the project. Not so. As Hyatt explains, the proposal, done well, will actually help you write a better book.

Books like Thinking Like Your Editor cover the issues at more length, but if you want something that covers all the basics in short order, I’d recommend Writing a Winning Proposal.
