Sproul on Luther and the Reformation
The first talk from a new teaching resource from R. C. Sproul and Ligonier Ministries:
For a good next step on learning about Luther, see Stephen Nichols’ Martin Luther: A Guided Tour of His Life and Thought, and then Roland Bainton’s Here I Stand: A Life of Martin Luther.

This article shows that the story about Hus saying “you may cook this goose, but afterward will come a swan that you will not be able to silence.” is a story that evolved from 2 conflated statements, one from Hus and another from Jerome of Prague, and Luther contributed to it; then later it was expanded even more.
I first heard Sproul years ago tell this story, and it is very exciting and a cool story; but later when I read the more accurate details (it seems), I was disappointed that it was not true.
