Robust two kingdom theology is one of the things that first drew me to the Reformed faith out of independent Bible church fundamentalism. On the other hand pastors such as Tim Keller and Tullian Tchividjian are among my heroes and mentors. I think the most vocal proponents of either view tend to play up differences, but as these posts make clear there's a lot of common ground too...and I agree with you that taking either two kingdoms or neo-Kuyperianism to the extreme will lead to serious error.

Blessings in Christ!

Sorry if I'm being too keen in plugging my Kuyperian/theonomist hardsell, but I believe that the usual dichotomy between the Gospel of grace and the social Gospel is perfectly undone in our approach to the Kingdom. For you see, the only way we can make every sphere of the world captive to Christ is to first preach the Gospel until the Church expands in such a way that it has transformed the culture and has brought whole institutions and even governments into the fold.

Meaning, you can only go through the creation-fall-redemption-restauration process if you preach the Word and change society one soul and one heart at a time.

This, I believe, was what the Kuyperians and theonomists of old failed to remember. It is nevertheless my postmillennial hope.

Thanks for the humble approach, Rev DeYoung.
God bless you.
