Battle of the Cartoon Theme Songs, Week IV
Here we are–the last week before the fantastic final four. There was some controversy about whether last week’s competition was rigged in favor of G.I. Joe. But I can assure you I did not like any of the cartoons offered last week. And apparently, few of you liked them either. Nevertheless, someone had to win, and that someone was G.I. Joe with 47% of the vote. Thundercats had a strong showing at 31%. He-Man was respectable at 20%. And She-Ra garnered 1 vote from a brave soul out there; 0% of the vote.
Who will join Duck Tales, Pinky and the Brain, and G.I. Joe in next’s week’s final? Whichever cartoon can make it through the vaunted Fighting Robotics Division.

1. Go-Bots
Pro: It wouldn’t take much to memorize thes lyrics
Con: A monkey could have written these lyrics (“The Go-Bots!”)
2. Transformers
Pro: The iconic “More than meets the eye”
Con: A lot of strange, mechanical transforming noises; struggles to find a consistent meter
3. Voltron
Pro: Encouraging to see the good planets of the solar system working together for a change
Con: I can’t believe Optimus Prime did the intro for Voltron
4. Mask
Pro: Nice to have an actual song again, vintage 80s sound
Con: vintage 80s sound

What about "Grape Ape?" Might be the worst best cartoon theme song of all time.

Go-Bots…..whatever! They are the same as 80's & 90's "Christian" t-shirts like "Bo may know Diddley but does Bo know Jesus?"
I was hoping MASK and Voltron would make an appearance! That said, even with the lack of consistent meter, how can one not go with Transformers?
This one was hard.
Voltron was my favorite of the cartoons, but for songs I had to go with Transformers. The meter issue only matches the futuristic feel of the cartoon.
I turned my four boys on to the original Transformers thanks to Season One DVD— now my legacy will live on for sure.
Go-Bots? Go home.
Transformers was a great cartoon, but how can anybody vote for that as the best theme song? It is probably the worst of any so far.
Voltron: wasn't much of a song, and it reminded me way to much of power rangers.
MASK: I found it attempted too much for a cartoon intro.
Go-Bots? yes it was lame, but I think the actual song was the best…
I had forgotten how bad Gobots was.
It's tough, but I'm going to have to go with Transformers — by a nose over Mask.
In my mind, *this* is the final four. Although there was a "Pole Position" cartoon that I'd pick over Go-Bots any day of the week.

And can we talk about Optimus dying during the movie? It may have made sense for Hasbro, but it was traumatic for me.
Personally, I like the Lion version of the Transformers theme the most. 80s hair metal + transformers = win.
