Perhaps this is trying to communicate a message. What does Obama, Harry Potter, and Harry Potter have in common? It’s all fantasy!
Oops, I meant Obama, Harry Potter, and Sonic the Hedgehog. You probably got the idea the first time. I was never meant to be a comedian.
I like the tulips in the corner.
So many unanswered questions. Why is Sonic red and yellow? Why is the number “10″ on his chest? What’s with that weird brown puddle at his feet? And, most important of all, where can I get one?
Laura, you may be onto something with the tulips! Crypto-Calvinism?
I’ve seen a lot of these things from Asia, where the manufacturers, who can’t read a word of English (or very few), put together some really hilarious words and phrases. Or sometimes very offensive ones!
A friend who was in the Peace Corps in Mali came back one Christmas with gifts he had picked up in local markets. Along with things like necklaces and figurines, he had a wallet with the American flag on one side and the face of Osama bin Laden on the other. The rationale seems to be “people from the United States spend a lot of time on this stuff.” (On the other side of things, my father told me the characters on the necklace he bought me in China probably really say “I’m a baboon,” and it’s just something they sell tourists because tourists will buy anything.)
