About
I am the Senior Pastor at University Reformed Church(RCA) in East Lansing, Michigan, near Michigan State University. I’ve been the pastor there since 2004. I was born in Chicagoland, but grew up mostly in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. I root for da Bears, da Bulls, da Blackhawks, the White Sox, and the Spartans.
I am married to Trisha. We live in Lansing and have five young children, and, for some reason, a bunny.
Why the Switch?
Some people may be wondering why I switched from having my own blog to having a blog hosted by The Gospel Coalition. The decision was actually pretty easy. 1) I’m excited about the ministry potential of TGC. 2) My blog looks much more professional now. And 3) maybe people will mistake my blog for Justin Taylor’s.
I have lots of respect for the upfront and the behind the scenes folks at TGC. I’m glad to be here. And just so you know, TGC does not control the content of their bloggers nor do they pay their bloggers. So basically this is still my blog, but I have the privilege to be blogging from the TGC site.
Comments
I try to read all the comments, but I don’t often respond to them. Some comments are thoughtless and best ignored. Most are thoughtful and I wish I could respond to them. But I must be a father, husband, and pastor before I am a blogger. If I don’t respond to your questions or engage your ideas in the comments section, please don’t take it personally.
Contact Information
You may contact me via email, though I am not always able to respond personally. If you have encouragement for me, I thank you in advance. If you have constructive criticism, I will take it seriously. If you want help with a term paper or you want me to read your manuscript or dissertation, you’re barking up the wrong tree.
