		<description>I wonder if they were seduced into the promise of freeing slaves because of the memory of having been slaves to the very country in which they were now putting their hope...Egypt. Perhaps they thought this might earn kudos with God.

Perhaps God was even testing them with the memory...and then they went back on their resolve much as they had done over and over during the 40 years in the wilderness. 800 years later and during such intense pressure in Jeremiah&#039;s time they continued to take freedom from slavery for granted...as even the New Covenant christian (including myself) does all too often on the question of being freed from slavery to sin.</description>
