The Sixties, Acts 29 and an old man with a dream

jesus-people-time-magazine

I am in Columbia, Missouri, with Pastor Kevin Larson and Karis Church, another gospel-centered Acts 29 church that’s rocking their world.  It means a lot to me.  All these Acts 29 churches mean a lot to me.  Why?

From around 1969 to 1971 I saw God the Holy Spirit come down and change the subject on the streets of L.A. to Jesus.  That changed everything for me.  I experienced what only God can do.  Ever since, I have prayed and longed for another wonderful movement of the power of God.

For me, Acts 29 is an answer to that prayer.  It’s just one part of a larger renaissance in the gospel among young men today.  But Acts 29 is where I’m involved, and I delight in it.

This work of God might prove to be more effective than the sixties.  That was more like a power surge.  It came, it went.  But this time, gospel-centered churches are rising up.  This should have more staying power.

I long for the rising generation to have their own living memory of what only God can do.  Then when they are old men — and it won’t be long — they will be praying and longing for the next generation to experience the same, and so the blessing will roll on through the generations.

So glad to be involved in what only God can do.
