When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him. When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases. Matt. 8:14-17 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, you are a most wonderful, merciful Savior. We praise, bless and adore you for everything you are, everything you’ve done for us, and all that you continue to do for us. By your life, death, and resurrection, you’ve completely secured our salvation, and you guarantee the completion of our salvation.

We’re thankful that every aspect of our being matters to you—spirit, soul, and body; and everything about us needs your cleansing, healing, and life-giving power. We long for the Day when we will be completely healthy and whole—the Day when you return. In light of that Day, Jesus, our cry is simple, humble, and earnest. Lord Jesus, please bring your healing power to bear to those we love and cherish—even before the great Day of complete healing.

For our children and grandkids: Jesus, renew their minds with your gospel; capture their hearts with your love; heal their emotions and bodies by your power. It’s hard to watch our kids suffer, and feel helpless to make things okay. Grant us grace, as we seek to love and serve them.

For our family members and friends: O, for the Day of no more cancers and heart disease; no more tumors or terrors; no more asthma or Alzheimer’s; no more addictions or even obsessions; no more mental maladies or emotional diseases; no more bodies that wear out or pain that cries out; no more hurting marriages and broken families. Jesus, please heal those who are dear to us, or grant them a wondrous measure of your sufficient grace (2 Cor. 12:9).

For ourselves: Heal our unbelief. Free us to know all we really need in life is you, and what you choose to give us, Lord. Increase our joy, peace, and trust—supersize them. Renew our first-love for you, Jesus. Make the gospel more precious to us than anything or anyone.

We know you don’t despise our asking; and we know you do all things well. We know you are writing stories larger than our understanding; we know, and still we ask, Jesus please bring healing to our kids, friends, and to us. So very Amen we pray, in your worship-worthy and trustworthy name.
