He (Jesus) existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Col. 1:17

Beloved praying friends, I’m departing from our normal format a bit to share this heart-centering quote from C.S. Lewis. In his book “The Last Battle,” (from the Chronicles of Narnia series), Lewis invites us to enter the manger scene in a fresh way. By faith, let’s go inside our Savior’s stable, and see for ourselves how good and “ginormous” Jesus’ incarnation really is.

“It seems, then,” said Tirian, smiling himself, “that the Stable seen from within and the Stable seen from without are two different places.”

“Yes,” said the Lord Digory. “Its inside is bigger than its outside.”

“Yes,” said Queen Lucy. “In our world too, a Stable once had something inside it that was bigger than our whole world.” It was the first time she had spoken, and from the thrill in her voice Tirian now knew why. She was drinking everything in more deeply than the others. She had been too happy to speak.

Lord Jesus, may we too conclude with Digory, inside your unique “birthing unit” was much bigger than its outside. And may we with Lucy become “too happy to speak,” as we “drink in” the implications of the Gospel more deeply.

Our world is desperate for you to “stable-ize” all things. We are so glad you came to us, are presently ruling over us, and are coming again for us. So very Amen we pray, in your great and gracious name.
