A critical link appears to be missing in "Sola Christus" (Question 4).

The Christian life is perhaps terminally ill from the general failure by theology-trained preachers and pastors to notice and teach the significant difference between the HYPOTHETICAL CHRIST, based on Biblical claims (even by Jesus); and the REAL JESUS CHRIST ("I Am Who I Am", i.e., self-sufficient life), based on his LIVE works, for powerful evangelical campaign, exclusively centered at his crucifixion and death on the cross (John 1: 47-51; 8: 21-28; 10: 17-18, 37-38; 14: 15-21; 19: 30-37).

Here are Jesus Christ's works of self-revelation you don't want to miss any longer!

PRELIMINARY WORKS: Fixing the day of his death; self-identifica-tion for arrest; self-surrender; and self-incrimination.

FINAL WORKS: authority over death and life (including baptism by the Holy Spirit).

All references are in the gospels awaiting the truth-searcher's joy of discovery. GBY!

Taking into account some earlier comments, along with recent articles by Tim Keller and R. Scott Clark, among others, perhaps what is being described is a reliable sermon.
These are questions that should be applied to every preached message. If they can't be affirmed then the message may have been many things, but it is not the gospel which we respond to with repentence and faith.
Such preaching is a matter of faith and skill. There are streams in the evangelical church who are choosing not emphasise these themes. It will be to their long term detriment. I find it frustrating to hear born again, Bible affirming colleagues preach little more that life improvement seminars using biblical proof-texts.
The issue of whether the man who delivers these sermons is a reliable Christian man is another issue.
Maybe the subject for a later post.
Thanks, Tullian.

I am not sure that I am in agreement with Mary C. I believe a teacher (preacher not a pastor)is to do one thing only and that is teach God's truth. This teaching does not only occur on Sunday morning but rather occurs 24/7. We will know by the fruit that the teacher produces. A teacher may know the Bible quite well, big deal so does Satan. Not only must we match the teaching to God's truth we must also see, does our teacher walk the talk. Of course we will never have that discernment if we ourselves do not devote time to, not only know God's truth but to understand it as well. If we are going to call ourselves Christians we must all, walk the talk both in our everyday actions and in our studious study of God's word.

I agree with Mary C. I would couple this article with an post made by Tim Keller. I think it was titled "Preachers-Only Don't Make Good Preachers" or something like that. We had a pastor that was a top-notch preacher, but most of the church tuned out because his lifestyle didn't back up what he was saying. It was quite clear that he didn't care about the people. By the time he left the church, he had a lot of enemies. He would say that they just didn't want to hear what God had to say. In reality, a lot of people were just tired of the hypocrisy.
