The "Church" defined as the divine identity of Jesus Christ increasingly knowable, firsthand and personally, based on his mysterious and powerfully life-transforming vision of His perfect and diacritical death on the cross (Matt. 16: 13-28) makes a world of difference!

With Christ in us, no other support and encouragement will be required! (John 8: 21-28; 16: 23-24) WHAT A CALLING!

I guess the difficult area is when you have a profession that is also something that you are really passionate about, such as being a Musician (Not necessarily in the church), or a visual artist, filmmaker, a novelist, or even a cultural or media arts critic, are all professions and passions that are often directly or indirectly associated by much of evangelicalism as at least appearing to be more "Worldly" than other professions and passions. Things such as ministry, mission work, medicine, law enforcement, social service, and even professional sports to some degree are still considered to be a much more noble profession for a Christian to be involved in than the more "worldly" arena of the arts. Anyway my point is that if we are to be salt and light to all of the world in all different vocations and professions how do those of us in the arts recieve the support and encouragement from the Church when we are often perceived as having a more "worldly" profession and passion than those believers engaged in otherwise more noble pursuits?

The seduction of the world inviting the jealousy and judgment of God has the following basic sets of distinct parallels known in Scriptures. They are: on the one hand, the "tree of life" and the "tree of knowledge of what is good and what is bad" (Gen. 2: 7-17; 3); and, on the other hand, the "cross of Christ" and enmity thereof (Matt. 16: 13-28).
