Will these 6-7 worship sites eventually petition to be their own congregations, becoming direct members of Metro-NY presbytery rather than just sub-congregations under the elder board of Redeemer? It seems that would be the best way to accomplish goal #1 (which I love). And I can't think of any disadvantage to it, once they have their own "elder team" (i.e. a Session) in place, at least not from a presbyterian point of view.

Pastor Keller, could you share any more thoughts on what the advantage of a "collegiate" model is? That's an unfamiliar concept to me. It would seem to me that the unified session would function as something of a presbytery-within-a-presbytery. Is that a fair assessment? If so, what is the advantage?

I noticed this same post over at the Redeemer City to City blogs, and I had the same question as a number of other people who commented over there -- specifically, why not particularize each of the sites into its own church plant? It seems that much of the foundation is (or will be) in place -- e.g., each site will have its own elder team, lead pastor(s), and lay leaders.

Always love reading Dr. Keller's thoughts. Being subscribed to 9 Mark's blog I regularly see posts that are an expose on why the multi-site church is the eventual downfall of the Christian faith, which is why I enjoy hearing Dr. Keller explain his reasoning that there can and is a reason to do this method sometimes. However I am sure that some people will remain unconvinced.
