Writing Advice

SchreibmaschineSam Anderson at New York Magazine highlights some good writing advice from authors around the world (via a two-part survey done by The Guardian). Here's my three of his ten favorites:

  1. Roddy Doyle: "Do feel anxiety -- it's the job."
  2. A.L. Kennedy: "Remember writing doesn't love you. It doesn't care."
  3. Zadie Smith: "Resign yourself to the lifelong sadness that comes from never being satisfied."

What advice would you add?
