Panel Discussion on Brian McLaren's "A New Kind of Christianity"
Panel Discussion on Brian McLaren's "A New Kind of Christianity" avatar

On March 11 at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary sponsored a panel discussion around Brian McLaren's new book, A New Kind of Christianity: Ten Questions That Are Transforming the Faith. The panel was moderated by SBTS president R. Albert Mohler Jr. Participants included Bruce Ware (Professor of Christian Theology), Gregory Wills (Professor of Church History), Jim Hamilton (Associate Professor of Biblical Theology), and Stephen Wellum (Professor of Christian Theology).

As you might imagine, the panel is not unsure about what they think of the book. A couple quotes regarding McLaren's project:

This is neither new nor Christian. -Greg Wills
I would suggest the title of this book should be, 'An Old Kind of Apostasy.' -Bruce Ware

[For a helpful complement to this panel discussion, please see Kevin DeYoung's "Christianity and McLarenism."]

Mike Pohlman (Ph.D. Candidate, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) is an editor with The Gospel Coalition and senior pastor of Immanuel Bible Church in Bellingham, WA.
