Is There Life After Death? Ligonier 2009 West Coast Conference Videos

Ligonier Ministries recently released the videos from their 2009 West Coast conference, “Is There Life After Death?” Here’s the description of the conference from the Ligonier website:

Many Christians reflect upon the purpose and consequences of Jesus’ resurrection only at Easter. This is distressing because the resurrection, as the event upon which Christianity stands or falls, should occupy first place in our thinking and living.

In Ligonier Ministries’ 2009 West Coast Conference held in Seattle, Wash., “Is There Life After Death?,” R.C. Sproul, Alistair Begg, and Michael Horton examine the significance of the resurrection of Christ for worship, preaching, apologetics, and other issues. A firm understanding of the resurrection is essential for confronting false teaching and looking forward to our life in the world to come.

Here are the videos from the conference:

Seminar on Ministry with Conrad Mbewe

As often as the opportunity presents itself we want to announce events that promote gospel-centered ministry. Some of these you may be able to attend while others, just by knowing they exist, will encourage you in your faith and ministry. The event detailed below from Bethesda Baptist Church in Allen Park, MI is such an event.

UPCOMING EVENT
Saturday, February 13, 2010
Seminar on Ministry with Conrad Mbewe

Conrade Mbewe is a minister of the Gospel – he pastors Kabwata Baptist Church in Lusaka, Zambia. A gifted preacher of God’s Word, Conrad is known in many circles throughout Great Britain and the U.S. as the “African Spurgeon.” Ironically, it is not his  preaching that has earned him that moniker, rather it’s the way God has used him and Kabwata (like God used Spurgeon and the  Met. in the 19th century London) to develop a variety of ministries which bring the Gospel to bear upon both the Church and the  surrounding world.

Whether it’s London, Lusaka, or Detroit, there are biblical truths and paths of wisdom which transcend  geography and cultures, instructing us how to minister to those within and without the Church for Christ. Conrad will be addressing us on these matters and will be doing so from a vantage point refreshingly different from Middle America.

  • Breakfast 8:30 am

The Gospel Coalition 2011 National Conference

It seems every week we get an inquiry about when our next national conference is—and we love this! We love it because it confirms what we sensed last April when we met for The Gospel Coalition 2009 National Conference, namely, that God is doing something significant through TGC to promote gospel-centered ministry for the next generation.

Because we understand that many of you are already making arrangements for the conference(s) you plan to attend in 2010 and 2011, we want to make sure our next national conference has an opportunity to get on your calendar.

The next national conference for The Gospel Coalition will be April 12-14, 2011 at the McCormick Place in downtown Chicago. The theme and speakers will be announced in the coming months.

As a reminder, our national conference is held every other year. In the off years, we hold a small, private conference for our Council members for the purpose of prayer, fellowship, and discussion. During these off years, we encourage people to attend the Together for the Gospel (T4G) conference. Their next conference is April 13-15, 2010 in Louisville, KY on the theme “The (Unadjusted) Gospel.”

While conferences are only part of what we do at TGC, they’re a significant part. We are grateful for your prayers and support as we work hard to ensure that our next national conference is done to the glory of God.

Christ, Kingdom & Culture

That’s the name of an upcoming conference January 15-16 2010 at Westminster Seminary California. Here’s the introduction from the WSC Website:

Questions concerning how Christians ought to relate to the broader culture, how to serve God in their daily vocation, and how to relate the Word and kingdom of God to every aspect of life are as ancient as the Christian faith itself. Whether it was the question whether to pay taxes or whether to eat meat offered to idols, Scripture addressed these issues repeatedly. Throughout its history the church has always been challenged to distinguish the faith from the culture without hiding from the culture and without being taken captive by it. This conference will address the sovereignty of God as it relates to his kingdom, to our role as Christians in God’s world, in the state, at work, at school, and in the church.

Speakers include:

As you consider what conference(s) to attend in 2010, this looks like one that should be on your short list. (Adding to this conference’s appeal is that, for most of us, January is a perfect time to plan a trip to sunny Escondido.)
