Help for Understanding Marriage
Gratefully, I had today off from work. It has been nearly refreshing to get some time to rest, read, pray, and hand out with the family. For a little while, my wife and I curled up on the couch to watch Tim and Kathy Keller’s talk on marriage at the recent Gospel Coalition’s National Women’s Conference (by the way, should’t that be INTERnational women’s conference?). I thought Tim’s opening 25 minutes was so good that we may use it as an overview in week one of our courtship and marriage Sunday school class. As a former policy wonk and social scientist who focused on child and family well-being, I appreciated the wonderful job Tim did with the social science, both in terms of simply presenting it and in providing a counter-narrative to the prevailing wisdom (read, fallen understanding). He nails the covenant idea in a very helpful way. If you haven’t seen this, it’s worth the watch.
