Cross Starts Today!

Today begins the Cross Conference, a student missions conference focused on reaching the unreached and unengaged people groups of the world. I’m thrilled to be here in Louisville as over 3,500 students make their way here to consider God’s call on their lives to make disciples of all nations. I’m praying this is a historic event, a significant ramping up of missions zeal in this generation and beyond. I’m praying this may be the time that God pours out His Spirit on all nations in such an enlarged way that the task of world evangelization is completed in our lifetime. I’m praying that God uses Cross, Urbana, Impact and a host of other student mission organizations to spark a global revival. I’m praying Jesus comes today–and if not today, then in my lifetime.

We kick off this afternoon at 4:30pm with Trip Lee performing at a pre-conference concert and preaching God’s word. The conference sessions get underway with testimonies, singing, and prayer at 7:00pm. John Piper addresses us first with a sermon entitled “The Chief End of Missions: The Supremacy of God in the Joy of All Peoples.” I know something of John’s passion and excitement for this conference, so I’m expecting him, with God’s help, to be as powerful and pointed about the glory of Christ as ever. The evening concludes with Mark Dever interviewing John Piper about… well, just about anything with Dever doing the interview! Should be edifying and engaging.

For those interested but unable to make it, you can still join us for the plenary sessions. The live stream is available here.

Whether you’re here or streaming online or unable to to join us for the conference, you can join us in prayer. Would you join us in asking the Father to wind up human history and bring the glorious end with the reaping of the nations to eternal life and the coming of Christ in glory and might?
