Hi, I think social times and joking around are just as important as supposedly "solemn" pursuit of prayer and bible study. Otherwise the faith is dull and cold. It must be *fun* to follow God, else life is grey and damp.

By no means was I belittling the quiet time. We all need those times of separation. I was just making an observation.

Good thoughts. You're right. We should be listening to God's voice and be in prayer continually.

I still think that there is something to be said for studying Scripture and praying alone, at least at one point of the day. Of course, if quiet time is divorced from real life and brings no life-change, it is useless.

This really spoke to me. But I think it could go a step further. Why do we have to separate "Quiet Time" from all other time? How about we take Paul's command to pray without ceasing and intertwine all of life with spiritual formation. Then, when we go to the grocery store, the bank, give a few bucks to a homeless man, and read our Bibles in the morning, we will always be listening for God's voice and seeking His will.
