I would take what he says about the 20 and 30 somethings being the future of the church even further. I believe they are the present.

Churches should look at their staff, board, elders, leadership and take an inventory of 20 and 30 year olds. A church without some amount of 20/30 somethings in senior leadership has a future that is in doubt at best.

I definitely think that the mainline denominations are declining in part because of falling birth rates, but I think that even the fact of falling birth rates among mainline denominations is a sign of shifting convictions. I think it is likely that these mainline denominations have shifted in their teaching and convictions about the family and about children and as a result their birth rates are falling along with the numbers counted in their denominations.

Very interesting post.

hmmm...interesting.
I've found in my own community of Jesus followers that the sentence, "Younger generations are looking for answers in a variety of places, yet many are content in their seeking and uncertainty" to be true. There is a sense of desperate dependence and not a sense of "need to know."

Enjoying learning from this book vicariously.
