This is interesting that the comment born again again was mentioned because when I embraces the doctrines of grace I said the same thing. The doctrines of grace are a real I eye opener to the understanding of scripture, are sinful nature and the sovereignty of God.
If you do not subscribe to T.U.L.I.P read the bible pretending that you do and you will be amazed as to how clear the passages become. I do not really think I am born again again but like the other logger said we should be renewed (born again) every day. Before my understandings of the doctrines of grace I would go to church asking the Lord for more faith and grace because I was sick of my sin and felt dead (Also the bible teaches that faith is a gift from God and that he gives more of it if you read His holy word). I would sit in church unsatisfied and say to myself is this what I have to look forward for the rest of my CHRISTIAN LIFE (I reached all my potential with Armenian/free will practice). I refused to accept that this was all to my unsatisfied Christians life because my Jesus Is royalty He is Mightier then all.

My wife and I were devout Seventh-day Adventists for more than 50 years. To our credit, however, we had not converted to Adventism. We just both grew up that way, and we never even heard about the doctrines of grace until several years after our officially leaving Adventism. Human language cannot express our joy and peace from learning and experiencing the doctrines of grace. The Dutch flower (the acrostic tulip) provides a great way to teach the doctrines of grace. This is akin to the Irish shamrock teaching the doctrine of the Trinity. All in all, we are most delighted to see "the young and the restless" moving toward a high view of God and Scripture. To God alone be all the glory!

Thank you for your pithy book review. I can well relate to this movement on two levels. I "discovered" Reformed theology while in Bible College some thirty years ago. It probably "saved" me from the inevitable affects of a strict Ariminan upbringing (which I was already questioning four years before arriving at College). I believe that reformed theology "saved" me from fundamentalist legalism and anti-illectualism and opened my heart and mind to the full breadth of the Scriptures. My college freshman daughter just returned from her first Passion Conference. I couldn't be more thrilled for her.

Haven't read the book, but I'm buds with many Calvinists of the Reformed bent. Typically, Covenental Theology, the Sovereignty of God, and intellectual rigor are the noteworthy aspects they are quick to relate. In and of themselves they are all true. But, as Chesterton noted, all heresy has roots in "truth taken too far." God is Sovereign indeed, but we are not automatrons without free will. Intellectual rigor is commendable, but as you've stated, not "the secret knowledge that no one else knows about." So, yes, be excited about God's grace, but guard against haughtiness. As for second conversions? I'll say that we should seek to be converted daily. Battling evil is a tough gig, and a life-long series of conversions should be embraced.
