I find it rather disappointing that this much discussion was made of 1st Peter 3:19 and nowhere was it pointed out that it would be in direct contradiction of Revelation 12:8 for Christ to have preached in Spirit (between his death and resurrection) to Satan and his angels in Prison, for Satan and his angels are not cast out of Heaven completely until after Christ's resurrection.

Am looking forward to reading your ESVSB intro to the Pentateuch by Gordon Wenham. In Wenham's text (IVP) on the Pentateuch, Exploring the Old Testament Vol. 1, he asserts that Noah's Flood was only regional, ie. was not universal, the ages given for the preflood patriarchs cannot be taken literally, that the first 11 chapters are merely a "theological retelling" of ancient myths, that we accept elements of the theory of evolution "because many eminent scientists affirm them." It will be interesting to see how many of Wenham's published assertions regarding the first 11 chapters of Genesis made it by the oversight and editorial teams into the final product.
