This demonstrates the importance for the church to reject the tenets of Modernity, and discerningly adopt some of the critiques of postmodernity.

It is modernity that imposes the false dichotomy of "history vs. theology," and that insists that there is no interpretation in history.

The postmodern critique of this has demonstrated that this is a bunch of hogwash, and that nobody observes "pure, objective" events---everything is "interpreted."

I read this book after finding it at an Ollies Bargain Outlet - knowing Nick from my college days at Frostburg State University where he served as Campus Minister for Inter Varsity - I was curious about what he had to say. I was pleased with his book - it was personable as he shared the ramifications of the teachings to his own life experiences, but it was also scholarly. I think it an important book and a decent read.
