It is modernity that imposes the false dichotomy of "history vs. theology," and that insists that there is no interpretation in history. The postmodern critique of this has demonstrated that this is a bunch of hogwash, and that nobody observes "pure, objective" events---everything is "interpreted." This demonstrates the importance for the church to reject the tenets of Modernity, and discerningly adopt some of the critiques of postmodernity.

I was pleased with his book - it was personable as he shared the ramifications of the teachings to his own life experiences, but it was also scholarly. I think it an important book and a decent read.
