Isn&#039;t this the easy way out?
If God takes away our idols, we are then unable to make a free decision to love him over them, right?
Did God take away the idols from the Israelites?  I don&#039;t think so.  He even had them sacrifice cattle, sheep &amp; goats -- the idols they worshipped in Egypt -- as a reminder to turn away from worshipping them.
Don&#039;t we grow in faith and perseverance if we cooperate with his grace and resist our idols and hindrances, and thus see his power at work in us? (a la St Paul and his thorn)</description>
