Tullian Tchividjian on God-centered anger:
When we see the restlessness and wreckage in people’s lives because they’re not in relationship with God and they’re living sin-filled lives, it should stoke our anger—an anger that arises because we love them and we grieve to see them living for something so destructive when God created them to live for something beautiful and satisfying.
Is anyone surprised by this? The majority of Americans agree that funding for abortion should not be covered in the current health care bill. Unfortunately, in reporting this story, CNN chooses a very unflattering picture of a pro-life protester.
Philip Yancey encourages us to not abandon the title “evangelical,” but merely live up to it.
It saddens me to hear the media’s caricature of evangelicals as right-wing zealots. The word means “good news,” and I have seen that message broadcast in creative, practical ways in over 50 countries.
Kevin DeYoung comments on Susan A. Sytsma Bratt’s review of a recent visit to the historic Tenth Presbyterian Church. He recognizes the deep divide among evangelicals regarding women in ministry.
I don’t fault Bratt for her mixed appraisal of Tenth. She liked a lot about the church, but just couldn’t quite get past the PCA’s stance on men’s and women’s roles. What is scriptural fidelity to one side looks like injustice to another side. And what feels like purposeful inclusion to others looks like misguided cultural captivity to those of us who believe in the continuing normativity of 1 Timothy 2:11-12.
