As the Zen proverb says, "Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water." (Not that I'm endorsing the Zen philosophy, but I gotta say, I appreciate the wisdom in this proverb.)

Thanks so much for this, Trevin. It's practically tailored to my current situation, a season of transition into bi-vocational ministry in the local church.

This is why I absolutely love Twitter! Just started following you today thanks to this post. I write about these same ideas, and seeing someone else communicate it so clearly and precisely is a refreshing thing! Thanks for the thoughts, but moreso for the challenge. I suppose living with faith "in the moment" is perhaps one of the most challenging things we face as believers. But it's a pursuit well worth the effort!

It amazes me about me that, despite my vigorous belief in and defense for the meticulous sovereignty of God over all things, events, people, relationships, jobs, et al., that I live as if most of my life consists of repeated episodes of interruptions. Oh that I would not only believe with all my heart in God's sovereignty, but embrace it with all my life!

Thanks, Trevin, for this seering post.
