The Gospel Coalition’s 2012 National Women’s Conference is for women but not all about women. It’s about the gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s a time to learn more of what Scripture says to us—and to say it to each other. A time to dig deeper into the character of God and his purpose for his people. A time to gather together and share biblical encouragement as sisters, daughters, wives, mothers, and friends.
Several renowned Bible teachers, including three TGC founding members, will explore the theme “Here Is Our God!” by guiding us through the Bible’s unfolding revelation of God to human eyes and hearts. Plenaries will offer exposition of biblical texts in which the Lord shows himself to his people. Seminars will feature women living out the Word, seeing and serving God with transformed and transforming lives. We’ll worship together through music led by Keith and Kristyn Getty.
This time together in Orlando will fix our eyes on Christ, in whom God has shown himself fully, to enable us to see him more clearly and serve him more powerfully.

What are the ingredients for effective, encouraging women’s ministry in a biblically committed complementarian church? What are the pitfalls? How can women focus fruitfully on many diverse areas of ministry—neither being confined to nor scorning the typical areas of hospitality and children’s work? This seminar will encourage women to pursue every liberty in Christ, according to the Word, as they worship and serve in their local assemblies.
Mindy Belz
This seminar will ask us to grapple with the Christian’s responsibility to speak true words about what God is doing in the world – through the eyes of one who has spent 25 years as a journalist, wrestling with discerning the news of the day from a Christian perspective. How do we hear accurately what the Lord is doing in the world and understand our place in it? How do we reflect the Bible’s central redemptive story, with Jesus Christ at the center, in the way we understand and articulate all the stories that fill our part of history? In this Age of Information we are all communicators; how can we be wise and godly ones?
Paige Benton Brown
Bible studies, small groups, prayer partners . . . all for the sake of ministry. Is it enough? What kinds of relationships are necessary to ministry? Organized or organic? Discipleship or friendship? Mentoring or mutuality? Sign-up or serendipitous? This seminar will address the relational aspect of transformational gospel ministry.
Paige Benton Brown
What about our life outside of church and Bible studies? After we listen, take notes, do homework, learn . . . what do we DO? Jesus came bringing and proclaiming a kingdom. Kingdom citizenship is a broader assignment than simply being a ministry leader or a church member. Starting with the biblical gospel, how do we understand kingdom citizenship and its reach into all of life?
Lydia Brownback
In Proverbs we find a portrait of an ideal woman whose excellent
qualities include the ability to purchase a field and produce
profitable merchandise, and in the New Testament we find Lydia, who
ran a successful fabric business. Today, there are more women in the
working world than ever before, many of them Christian women. How can
we live out our professional calling to the glory of God without
compromising our faith or our femininity? In this workshop we will
consider women's calling and vocation in the light of Scripture.
Lauren Chandler
Suffering is not limited to a certain group of people. We will all encounter suffering on this earth in one form or another. When that day comes and your world is shaken, on what will you be standing? What will prove to be the stability of your times? Hear Lauren speak out of her personal experience with suffering about how God has sustained her through his character revealed by his Word.
Kathleen Chapell
What does Christ-centered parenting look like? How does a parent show love even through discipline, reflecting God the Father’s unchanging love and his purifying discipline of us his children? This seminar will encourage confidence and joy in the calling to shape our children’s hearts according to God’s redemptive purposes. As we grow in our understanding of God’s love for us, according to the Scriptures, we will better and better understand how to pass on such a love to our children.
Miyon Chung
Miyon Chung will expound the biblical theme of hope as it has sustained Christians in Asia, a continent where hope is often the only resource people have to survive and thrive. More than a mere idle wish, more than an impossible luxury, hope is a strong word that takes us straight to the cross of Jesus Christ. This seminar will address the theme of hope in the Bible from the vantage point of the cross and resurrection—in order that we might demonstrate the hope of Christ in our daily lives, no matter what the circumstances. The perspectives of our brothers and sisters in Asia can help illumine for us a biblical understanding of hope.
Nancy Leigh DeMoss
This seminar may change your whole perspective on daily devotions! Discover why a consistent devotional life is foundational to cultivating an intimate, fruitful relationship with God. And gain practical insights that may transform your “daily devotions” into the most meaningful time in your day.
Elyse Fitzpatrick
Every woman is involved in counseling of some sort, whether in a formal setting or at the local coffee shop with friends. In this seminar, Elyse will take the beautiful declarations of Christ’s work on our behalf (his incarnation, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, ascension and reign) and apply them to broken people and relationships. Learning how the gospel intersects with our brokenness is key to providing help that is informed by the Wonderful Counselor and offers hope for deep transformation by the Spirit.
Keri Folmar and Leeann Stiles
God’s eternal plan to create a people to glorify him from every tribe, tongue, people and nation cannot be thwarted, not even in the most gospel-resistant places in the world. Learn how the message of Jesus is breaking through on the Arabian Peninsula and beyond, and how you can participate – in your own neighborhood or overseas – in reaching the unreached with the glorious news of the gospel. “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14).
Keith and Kristyn Getty
What happens when we sing together as God’s people? As leaders in worship and lovers of God’s gift of music, Keith and Kristyn will explore the various aspects and roles of this gift among God’s worshiping people.
Nancy Guthrie
Should we do a topical study or a Bible book study? How much time in small groups should we give to personal sharing and prayer vs. discussing the Scripture? What difference does it make when we seek to understand the storyline of the Bible rather than assuming it is all about us? How can we help women grow in their love for God’s Word and go deeper in their study of it? We’ll talk about the needs women have and the issues we all face in ministering to women with a firm confidence that it is the Word of God that does the work of God in our lives.
Susan Hunt
Do you have a spiritual mother? Is your church preparing you to be a spiritual mother? Are the Scriptures or is the culture telling the women in your church what it means to be a redeemed woman? Is the legacy of biblical womanhood being given to teen girls in your church? Why do we need opportunities for gender-specific discipleship? This seminar will present a gospel-centered approach to womanhood and will offer ideas and resources for vibrant discipleship ministry among women and teen girls in the local church.
Mary Kassian
The women’s lib movement of past decades sought to level the playing field and give woman the opportunities she deserves. But in our quest for gender equality, we’ve lost sight of the unique and vital way in which womanhood testifies to the gospel and displays spectacular truths about God. We will look at 1 Peter 3, a Scripture passage that navigates a way through the gender jungle. It will help us overcome the fear factor . . . see womanhood with fresh eyes and approach male-female relationships with godly wisdom.
Karen Loritts
How do doctrine and life go together? We will explore the way Ephesians links doctrinal truth to practical living out of that truth. How does this beautiful epistle speak into the body of Christ today, as we aim to walk in a manner worthy of God’s calling? As Karen connects the living Word to her own life, and ours, she will point us to a deeper connection between the call of God and the daily, real-life walk of faith.
Carolyn Mahaney
We'll consider the risen Lord's dramatic confrontation with Peter, in which Peter is called to face a future he would not choose but cannot change. Peter's first instinct is to compare—to look to those around him rather than to his Lord. How do we respond to challenges we don't want but can't change? The human temptation is to measure our lot against that of others. How can we turn this temptation to compare ourselves with others into a heart of gospel ministry to others? Jesus' challenging words to Peter can point the way.
Mary K. Mohler
Is Scripture memory for those who have either “the gift” or extra time on their hands? This practical seminar will encourage and inspire us to take seriously the spiritual discipline of Scripture meditation and memorization. We will look at the biblical basis for this crucial activity, as well as some of its fruit—in prayer, and ministry of all kinds. We will examine the non-negotiable elements of the process as well as survey a selection of methods. Finally, we will employ one of those methods to learn a psalm together, live!
Kathleen B. Nielson, Carrie Sandom, Jenny Salt, Colleen Gallagher, Deborah Lorentsen
Why is training in expository teaching of the Bible so important? What should the training involve? Where and how does this training happen effectively? Whether you’re looking for training or looking to train others, this seminar will help you think through such questions. We will hear from a number of women experienced in training women teachers and Bible study leaders in biblical exposition.
Jani Ortlund
How does the gospel shine light on marriage? Exactly how does one’s role as a wife connect to one’s relationship with Christ? We will explore the Scriptures to find the answers to such questions—and to discover what a wife’s respect, submission, and grace bring to a marriage. With wisdom both doctrinal and extremely practical, this seminar will encourage wives intentionally to fill their marriages with the grace and peace of Christ our Savior.
Noel Piper
Whether single or married, almost all of us have certain ways we observe special occasions. When we stop to think about the traditions in our homes, many of us will realize that we're just doing what's 'always' been done or what 'everyone else' is doing. In this seminar, we will think together how special seasons and everyday events can be what we want them to be--reflections of Christ, the treasure of our lives.
Jenny Salt
For many, singleness can be an unpleasant word and a situation to be avoided at all costs. But what does God think about it? How should Christians respond to singleness in light of God’s Word? This seminar is not just for single women but for everyone who is part of God’s family and who desires to live in a way that not only honors the Lord Jesus but encourages others to do the same.
Carrie Sandom
We know the Bible teaches, corrects, rebukes, and trains us in righteousness, but when we study and teach it how can we be sure we’re handling it correctly? What tools do we need to help us discover the main theme of a passage and its application in the post-resurrection era? In this seminar we will examine a variety of biblical genres and ways of studying them, with the aim of developing greater Bible handling skills.
Mary Willson
In a weary and broken world, a gospel-centered Sabbath rhythm offers hope, rest, and joy to those who trust in Jesus Christ. Several Old and New Testament texts will help us address questions such as: How does the Sabbath teach us to depend on God as Creator, Redeemer, and provider? How does Jesus view the Sabbath? How can we practice a Sabbatical rhythm, enslaved as we are by the tyranny of the urgent? How can this practice advance the church’s global witness? As we trace this scriptural theme, we will encounter the radical implications of God’s Sabbath rest and his gift of that rest to his people.
