TGC International Outreach is engaged in Theological Famine Relief for the Global Church. We create Relief Projects by working with translators, publishers, and printers here in North America as well as overseas, and donate these resources through global missions networks. Through your generous gifts, these projects enable us to strengthen thousands of church leaders in Asia, Africa, and South America.
The most important questions anyone can ask are: Why was Jesus Christ crucified? Why did he suffer so much? What has this to do with me? Finally, who sent him to his death? The answer to the last question is that God did. Jesus was God’s Son. The suffering was unsurpassed, but the whole message of the Bible leads to this answer. The central issue of Jesus’ death is not the cause, but the meaning—God’s meaning. That is what this book is about. John Piper has gathered from the New Testament fifty reasons.
Arabic is the primary language in North Africa and the Middle East and the fourth largest language in the world, spoken by 221 million people there and beyond. Much of the Arabic-speaking world has found itself embroiled in fierce and often hostile conflict recently. Often called "Arab Spring," these uprisings were sparked in most countries by poverty combined with rising prices, lack of job opportunities for young workers, and growing anger at personal enrichment among the politically elite. The uprisings began in Tunisia in December 2010, followed by mass protests across Iran, Yemen, Egypt, Libya, Oman, Jordan, Syria, Bahrain, Algeria and Morocco in January and February. Calls for freedom, justice, and hope for a better world were commonly heard among young protesters on the streets.
Regardless of any reforms these countries make, however, these hopes will not and cannot ultimately be met by a merely human government. Christ is the only one who can bring lasting peace to the unrest of millions of unbelieving souls in the Arab world, and access to that truth is essential. One massive opportunity for gospel penetration right now, especially for Arabs who do not speak English, is through the web, with the potential for millions to read, listen to, and study the truth about Jesus in their own language.
