Resource

Timothy Keller's Galatians For You is a personal or group curriculum that walks you through the book of Galatians, showing how the gospel message changes the whole of our lives. Combining a close attention to the detail of the text with Timothy Keller's trademark gift for clear explanation and compelling insights, this resource will both engage your mind and stir your heart.

"Galatians is all about the gospel - the gospel all of us need throughout all of our lives. It's dynamite, and I pray that its powerful message explodes in your heart as you read this book."

Timothy Keller

Galatians for You is a uniquely flexible resource. It can be read for personal study or edification; used as a daily devotional, complete with reflection questions; or utilized by anyone who has a teaching ministry, to help small-group leaders understand and apply the text, and to give preachers helpful ways of connecting timeless Bible truths to today's world.

Language

While the majority of the world speaks and communicates in local languages, globalization has created one major stream of communication—Global English. It is the official language of 53 nations (one-fourth of the world), and it is estimated that another billion people speak it as their second language. Nearly 1,742,600,000 are able to access, read, and comprehend resources in the English language. That’s more than 1 out of 5 people in the world!

While we continue to pursue translation into key languages, many times it is more cost effective to make English resources available to pastors, seminaries, and those who train church leaders. Global English is vital for equipping Christian leaders with selected biblical works.

Language

After the holocaust perpetuated by the Khmer Rouge in 1975-79 there were so few Christians remaining in Cambodia that Christianity in the country essentially had to start over. Only two trained pastors remained to minister among the small number of surviving, underground Christians.

Since the 15th century, Buddhism has been the dominant religion in Cambodia. The Khmer Rouge sought to eliminate all religion, as well as the educated and those who had contact with the West. The regime killed most Christians and 90 percent of the Buddhist monks. This holocaust cost nearly two million lives, leaving behind deep physical and emotional scars.

For the next 15 years Cambodia remained closed to the Gospel. In 1990 the government legalized Christianity, allowing some freedom. At that point there were only 20 known churches attended by 2,000 Christians in the entire country. With increasing freedoms, people became more open to the Good News. Today, there are an estimated 240,196 Evangelicals. Many former Khmer Rouge have become believers. But the government still bans door-to-door evangelism and distribution of tracts.

Mature leadership for the churches is the greatest challenge. The loss of so many educated people in the Khmer Rouge slaughter, combined with the dysfunctional society, pushed many new Christians quickly into leadership before they were ready. Existing pastors’ lack of training, their need to provide for themselves and the overwhelming practical needs of the faithful are huge challenges. Leadership training courses for them are becoming more available. Yet there remains a desperate need for biblically solid resources to help them shepherd and build up their fledgling congregations.

Author Mark Dever seeks to help believers recognize the key characteristics of a healthy church: expositional preaching, biblical theology, and a right understanding of the gospel. Dever then calls us to develop those characteristics in our own churches. By following the example of New Testament authors and addressing church members from pastors to pew sitters, Dever challenges all believers to do their part in maintaining the local church. What Is a Healthy Church? offers timeless truths and practical principles to help each of us fulfill our God-given roles in the body of Christ.

The two most dominant Albanian-speaking regions (Albania and Kosova) have a common history. After a 600-year reign by the Ottoman Empire, Albania was officially an atheistic nation during the last half of the 20th century. Kosova was one of the provinces within the former nation of Yugoslavia. Both nations declared (by popular vote) religious freedom in the 1990s. Since then, evangelical churches and mission agencies have multiplied but growth has been slow with limited resources. The genocide in Kosova in 1998-99 sought to unravel the freedoms of the people, but other nations stood with the people of Kosova and for 10 years the region has been a UN protectorate.

Within the oversight of the UN and the Albanian population in Albania and elsewhere, the church is seeking to expand its witness, train leaders, and prepare pastors. At the same time, Muslim countries continue to pour in huge amounts of aid and influence. The Albanian churches see literature, Christian instruction, and theological education as key tools for growth and reaching out to the non-religious and nominal Muslim. (Operation World)

In February 2009, Don Carson presented a 14-part seminar entitled “The God Who Is There” at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis. This series will serve the church well because it simultaneously evangelizes non-Christians and edifies Christians by explaining the Bible’s storyline in a non-reductionistic way. It’s one thing to know the Bible’s storyline, but it’s another to know one’s role in God’s ongoing story of redemption. “The God Who Is There” engages people at the worldview-level.

Spanish Resource: Book by Vaughan Roberts

God's Big Picture

Goal: $10,000

100% Raised

Jesús is a typical pastor in La Ceiba, Honduras. In fact, his story is all too common in the Third World. He is 35-years-old and, like most Hondurans, he completed only six years of public education. He has no formal theological training, but has been pastor or co-pastor of various churches for ten years. Read the rest of Jesús' story.

TGC International Outreach is engaged in Theological Famine Relief for the Global Church. By supporting this book project, you can partner with us to put Spanish-language resources into the hands of Latin American church leaders like Jesús.

Language

Worldwide, about 500 million people speak Spanish. For about 400 million, it’s their native/first language. It’s the official language of 21 countries, with most Spanish-speakers located in Latin America, which has a population of over half a billion.  (Mexico is the world’s largest Spanish-speaking nation.) Spanish has at least 3 million native speakers each in 44 countries, making it the fourth mostly geographically widely spoken language behind English (112 countries), French (60) and Arabic (57). (Source: Ethnologue).  Spanish is one of the six official languages of the U.N., and is an official language of the European Union and Mercosur.

Resource

Sixty-six books written by forty people over nearly 2,000 years, in two languages and several different genres. A worldwide bestseller published in countless sizes and bindings, translations and languages. Sworn by in court, fought over by religious people, quoted in arguments. The Bible is clearly no ordinary book. How can you begin to read and understand it as a whole?

In this excellent overview, Vaughan Roberts gives you the big picture — showing how the different parts of the Bible fit together under the theme of the kingdom of God. He provides both the encouragement and the tools to help you read the Bible with confidence and understanding. And he points you to the Bible's supreme subject, Jesus Christ, and the salvation God offers through him.

Ministry Events in Italy

This publishing project is being initiated in conjunction with ministry events in September of 2013. Collin Hansen of The Gospel Coalition  and Chris Castaldo of the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College, will be teaching pastors and church-planters in several cities across Italy. Copies of this book will be distributed free to all who attend these events. Additionally, TGC International Outreach will put these into the hands of several networks of Gospel-centered church leaders.

Language and Situation

Italy is often associated with the Roman Empire and yet this beautiful country is diverse with people and ethnic groups from all over Europe. This is the nation that gave the world so much in terms of art, culture, science, math, politics, and the Christian faith. Roman Catholicism ceased to be the official state religion in 1984 and all other religions and faiths have equal freedom under the laws of Italy. Many of the immigrants came to Italy to enjoy this freedom of religion. Despite the freedom of religion the Protestant Church has experienced very little growth. Part of this is due to the oppressive hand of the Catholic Church but also the shortage of mature Christian leaders who have not been influenced by corruption, wealth, and attitudes of complacency.

A sign of hope for the church is the birth of an interdenominational missionary movement seeking the training of pastors and saturation church planting in Italy and surrounding nations. Despite Italian’s reluctance to read, most Christian groups indicate that literature will be of great importance in the spread of the Gospel, reaching students, and the proper training of church leaders. The newer, smaller congregations are making a vast impact across the countryside of Italy. (Alliance for SCP, Operation World, pg. 364-68)

Resource

In his fourth book in The Swans Are Not Silent series John Piper explores the lives of Athanasius, John Owen, and J. Gresham Machen—a bishop, a pastor, and the founder of a seminary.

Each of these men stood for the truth of the gospel in the face of intense opposition—all out of a deep love for Jesus and a desire for people to know him in his fullness. They took no joy in controversy for argument’s sake, and they were willing to suffer for the sake of guarding the sanctity of the gospel. Threats of harm, years of exile, the death of loved ones, opposition from friends and authorities, sickness and pain—none of these setbacks could keep these three from maintaining their efforts to further the gospel or quench their zeal for Jesus himself.

Portuguese-speaking Africa

Roman Catholicism was brought from the Portuguese colonial era and quickly mixed with traditional animistic African religions. This syncretism and ecumenism are very common and jeopardizes a biblical vision of the Gospel and the true church of Christ.

The Church in the African continent is growing significantly in number, however most leaders have little or no formal training. Eager to grow numerically, many have abandoned God's word as the guide, which directs us in how we build His church.

There has been minimal investment in the formation of sound leaders, and informal training is the most common.  Thus there are few men well prepared to teach sound biblical truth. This resource will help meet this need, and bring training they otherwise would not have access to.

Language

Many people do not realize that, in the African continent nearly 50 million people speak Portuguese from various countries such as Mozambique, Angola, and other countries. Most of this region has been severely affected by civil wars and plagued by poverty and misery.

The Portuguese language spread during the colonial era, most prominently to Brazil, Mozambique, Angola and Portugal. Worldwide, there are approximately 178 million first language Portuguese speakers.

Resource

In collaboration with 9Marks ministries, Editora FIEL is creating a Portuguese-language church leaders training curriculum. We will donate these resources to 300 key seminaries, bible schools, libraries and churches in Portuguese-speaking countries located in southern Africa.

This kit will contain the following:

  • 28 hours of video Theological Courses on 8 DVDs.
  • Book, 9Marks of a Healthy Church
  • 9Marks Study Guide

The video curriculum is filmed with Portuguese translation taught by Mark Dever, Greg Gilbert, Jonathan Leeman, Mike McKinley, as well as Augustus Nicodemus and other Portuguese speaking Christian leaders. These institutions will be allowed to copy and distribute print resources. In addition to this, key schools will be chosen to offer the course with a diploma giving recognition to the student's work, as well as credit, in some well known Brazilian partner seminaries. Our prayer is that hundreds of leaders will be trained through this curriculum.

FIEL ministries has been working in African nations through conferences, literature distribution and its Adopt-a-Pastor project for over ten years, and has seen much fruit. We hope that this initiative which reaches these pastors and seminaries, both formal and informal, will provide the needed training that has the potential to impact the future generation of pastors and teachers in the church of Africa.

Editora FIEL's mission is to spread among Portuguese-speaking peoples worldwide the truths of biblical Christianity, the contours of which have been shaped by the doctrines of sovereign grace, which gave birth to the Reformation and center upon the glorious redeeming work of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the only Mediator between God and man.

9Marks is a ministry dedicated to equipping church leaders with a biblical vision and practical resources. Our goal is simple: churches that display the glory of God.

Language and Situation

Until 1917, Russian was the sole official language of the Russian Empire. It is primarily spoken in Russia and the other countries that once made up the USSR. During the Soviet period, government policy toward the languages of the various ethnic groups fluctuated. Though each of the constituent republics had its own official language, the unifying role was reserved for Russian.

Russia is the largest country in the world and spans nine time zones. When the U.S.S.R. crumbled, new nations were born—most of them seeking meaning to life, answers to global questions, struggle for power, and the role of government and religion. Despite the hopes for a new nation, they have experienced a high rate of unemployment and economic instability.

While the new constitution of Russia permits the freedom of religion, the Russian Orthodox Church still enjoys a comfortable role in guiding policy on churches, church planting, and missionaries often opposing evangelicals. There has been minimal investment in formal biblical training and seminaries. Most teaching still remains informal and centered around the largest cities—leaving many pastors far from the training, the resources, and the fellowship they need to grow spiritually. There is a strong call for pastoral training materials in the Russian language.

Is the cross truly the center of your ministry?

Today we commonly see images of the cross adorning churches, dangling from necklaces, and gleaming from lapels. Yet the image that is so sanitized for us today was grotesque and abhorrent to those living in the first century. It was a symbol of evil, torture, and shame. It is this realistic and horrifying view of the cross that should call us to Christian ministry and compel us to share the Good News of Christ's triumph over death.

Through his exposition of 1 Corinthians, D. A. Carson presents a comprehensive view of what the death of Christ means in preaching and ministering to God's people. He confronts the issues of factionalism, servant-leadership, shaping "world" Christians, and the source of knowledge in order to help Christian leaders learn principles for dynamic, cross-centered worship.

Prior to Perestroika (1986), believers in the former Soviet Union not only suffered for their faith but were also denied theological training and resources. For that reason, pastors and churches affirm theological training and resources plus church planting as their highest priorities. Having served those dear believers since 1934, Slavic Gospel Association works with and distributes resources to ministry leaders throughout Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and all of the Russia speaking countries including the Central Asian “stans."

Baker Books has a vision for building up the body of Christ through books that are relevant, intelligent, and engaging. They publish titles for lay Christians on topics such as discipleship, spirituality, encouragement, relationships, marriage, parenting, and the intersection of Christianity and culture. They also publish books and ministry resources for pastors and church leaders, concentrating on topics such as preaching, worship, pastoral ministries, counseling, and leadership.

The most important questions anyone can ask are: Why was Jesus Christ crucified? Why did he suffer so much? What has this to do with me? Finally, who sent him to his death? The answer to the last question is that God did. Jesus was God’s Son. The suffering was unsurpassed, but the whole message of the Bible leads to this answer. The central issue of Jesus’ death is not the cause, but the meaning—God’s meaning. That is what this book is about. John Piper has gathered from the New Testament fifty reasons.

Language

Countries with Telugu-speaking Populations:
India, U.K., Australia, Singapore, Fiji, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and North America.

Situation
The people of India who speak Telugu share a language that dates back to the 14th Century B.C. Telugu is the third most-spoken language in India and is mainly spoken in southeast India along the coastline of the Bay of Bengal. What was once considered the language of the elite caste, Telugu is now a common language among the people through radio, television, and movies. This area is also home to the greatest concentra-tion of Islamic workers and conversions to Islam.

Nearly 40% of the population within each of the major cities of this region are Muslim, by faith. With the pressure of anti-conversion laws and the presence of Islam, the official percentage of Christians has declined among Telugu speakers in India and yet in the last decade there is a resurgence of evangelism (in spite of the persecution), church planting in over 26,000 villages, and the renewed work of indigenous missionaries. Still, most missionaries and pastors lack adequate training and over 50% of the region completely lacks a Christian presence. Women run most new Internet cafés and, thus, both women and men have access to online resources, books, and materials. Philadelphia Missions is a Christian ministry dedicated to furthering the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the unreached people groups of India. This is done by sharing the good news of salvation to those who have not yet come to faith. Our primary task is evangelizing, discipling, and planting churches. In the last seven years, Philadelphia Missions has reached several people groups establishing churches among them. At present there are 27 full-time church planters working together for this cause.

Jesus+Nothing=Everything by Tullian Tchividjian

Resource

It’s so easy to forget what the Christian faith is all about. We struggle so much, work so hard, and fail so often that we frequently sense something in the equation of life must be missing. Tullian Tchividjian argues that what we are missing is the gospel—a fuller, more powerful understanding of Jesus and what his finished work means for everyday life.

During a year of great turmoil, Pastor Tchividjian discovered the power of the gospel in his own life. Sharing his story of how Jesus became more real to him, Tchividjian delves deeply into the fundamentals of the faith, explaining the implications of Christ’s sufficiency—a revelation that sets us free and keeps us anchored through life’s storms.

Ultimately, Tchividjian reminds us that Jesus is the whole of the equation as he boldly proclaims that Jesus plus nothing really is everything.

French is still taught in most schools of western Africa. The influx of Islamic rule and practices has led to the opposition of Christianity and the church. The major growth of Frenchspeaking Christians is being seen in Africa, and these men and women have a heart for all parts of the French-speaking world. The term “born again” is a precious term in the history of the Church. In his book, Finally Alive, John Piper takes the reader through a comprehensive study of Scripture and unveils what Jesus meant when He said, “You must be born again.” This book is one of the most lucid and thorough studies ever written for the believer in understanding the process from election, to “dead in our sins,” to new life and justification, and the process of sanctification. God is the great Doer of new birth and it is He that gives us eternal life!

We admire these men for their greatness, but the truth is Augustine grappled with sexual passions. Martin Luther struggled to control his tongue. John Calvin fought the battle of faith with worldly weapons.

Yet each man will always be remembered for the messages he declared-messages that still resound today. John Piper explores each of these men's lives, integrating Augustine's delight in God with Luther's emphasis on the Word and Calvin's exposition of Scripture. Through their strengths and struggles we can learn how to live better today. When we consider their lives, we behold the glory and majesty of God and find power to overcome our weaknesses.

The church, both registered and un-registered, is rapidly expanding and yet these pastors are in need of good study and training materials and Chinese doctrinal books that will help them lead and guide their congregations in times of difficulty and in times of great blessing. Filling Up the Afflictions of Christ

Goal: FUNDED - Thank you for your support.

Resource

Jesus' words in John 12 are sobering: unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it will bear little fruit. The history of Christianity's expansion proves that God's strategy for reaching unreached peoples with the gospel includes the sufferings of his frontline heralds-the missionaries who willingly die a thousand daily deaths to advance God's kingdom.

Pastor John Piper's latest addition to The Swans Are Not Silent series focuses on this flesh-and-blood reality in the lives of William Tyndale, Adoniram Judson, and John Paton. The price they paid to translate the Word of God, to pave the way for missionary mobilization around the world, and to lead the hostile to Christ was great. Yet their stories show in triplicate how the gospel advances not only through the faithful proclamation of the truth but through representing the afflictions of Christ in our sufferings.

Preaching the Cross

Resource

Proclaiming the gospel is without a doubt the most important task of pastoral ministry, yet often other, seemingly more urgent activities obscure it. From time to time all pastors and preachers need to be reminded of the primacy of the gospel.

Preaching the Cross does just this. It is a call to expository, gospel-centered preaching as the center of pastoral ministry. This volume showcases an unprecedented combination of pastors representing a variety of evangelical traditions. Though they differ on some secondary points of church practice, they all enthusiastically celebrate the centrality of the cross of Christ-keeping the main thing the main thing. That message every reader can take away from this book and adopt in his pastoral ministry.

Authors Mark Dever, J. Ligon Ducan III, R. Albert Mohler Jr., and C. J. Mahaney are joined by colleagues John MacArthur, John Piper, and R. C. Sproul in calling pastors to pursue gospel-saturated, preaching-centered ministries.

Proclaiming a Cross-centered Theology

Loving, teaching, and rightly dividing the Word of God is every pastor's privilege and responsibility. If a pastor understands what the Word says about God, man, and the curse, about Christ and his substitutionary atonement, and about the call to repentance and sacrifice, he will develop and preach a sound theology. And sound theology is, in the words of J. Ligon Duncan, essential to faithful pastoral ministry.

Proclaiming a theology that is centered on Christ's atonement is especially critical, for by this atonement, Christians have been brought from death to life, and by it a church lives or dies. In this penetrating sequel to Preaching the Cross, John Piper, R. C. Sproul, John MacArthur, and Thabiti Anyabwile join authors Mark Dever, Ligon Duncan, C. J. Mahaney, and Albert Mohler in exploring the church's need for faithful proclamation and calling pastors and churches to cross-centered, scripturally saturated thinking.

Fifty Reasons Christ Came to Die

The most important questions anyone can ask are: Why was Jesus Christ crucified? Why did he suffer so much? What has this to do with me? Finally, who sent him to his death? The answer to the last question is that God did. Jesus was God’s Son. The suffering was unsurpassed, but the whole message of the Bible leads to this answer. The central issue of Jesus’ death is not the cause, but the meaning—God’s meaning. That is what this book is about. John Piper has gathered from the New Testament fifty reasons.

Yet our longing remains. Why? John Piper turns your heart toward the one true Object of human desire: God. He shows how fulfilling your duty to delight in Him can change your attitude toward worship, toward marriage, toward material goods, toward your very mission and purpose on earth.  Jesus is not safe, but He is all satisfying!

Who Am I? by Jerry Bridges

Goal: $5,644

100% Raised

Resource

Best-selling author Jerry Bridges (The Pursuit of Holiness, The Discipline of Grace, The Bookends of the Christian Life, and many other books) asks perhaps the most fundamental question of existence: “Who am I?” He then turns to Scripture to unpack for the Christian eight clear, interlocking, illuminating answers: I Am a Creature / I Am in Christ / I Am Justified / I Am an Adopted Son of God / I Am a New Creation / I Am a Saint / I Am a Servant of Jesus Christ / I Am Not Yet Perfect. A direct, honest presentation of biblical truth, and all new material from Jerry Bridges, Who Am I? demonstrates for believers that they can and should rightfully claim for themselves an unshakeable, lifelong, personal foundation of confidence in one thing and one thing alone: the gospel of a victorious, resurrected Savior.

Spanish Resource for Cuba: Book by John Piper

Finally Alive

Goal: $5,000 - FUNDING COMPLETE

100% Raised

PRIORITY PROJECT: Funding needed by mid-July for leaders conference in October.

Resource

The term “born again” is a precious term in the history of the Church. In his book, Finally Alive, John Piper takes the reader through a comprehensive study of Scripture and unveils what Jesus meant when He said, “You must be born again.” This book is one of the most lucid and thorough studies ever written for the believer in understanding the process from election, to “dead in our sins,” to new life and justification, and the process of sanctification. God is the great Doer of new birth and it is He that gives us eternal life!

Language and Situation

The Cuban community has been a literal “island” in the sea of human relations and globalization. Ruled for half a century by Fidel Castro the island is now governed by his brother, Raúl. The void created in the people’s heart by communism and isolationism has been filled with the desire for Christianity. Despite frequent acts of harassment against the Church, the Evangelical Church has grown rapidly and with fervor. Yet, nearly 80% of the population is still outside the reach of a local congregation. This growth has created an unprecedented need for trained pastors and Bible teachers. Training is limited by the lack of books, literature, and audio files for listening to solid preaching and teaching.  (Operation World, This is Cuba, World Factbook)

The importation of books is not legal and, thus, this project is designed to create a Spanish translation placed in a digital file that can be printed within the country of Cuba. National church leaders will print books and distribute them to pastors and seminaries.

Essential Truths of the Christian Faith by R.C. Sproul

Goal: $9500

Resource

For those who yearn for a deeper walk in faith, their journey can begin here. Dr. Sproul takes theology down off of the dusty shelves of theological libraries and expounds in clear and simple terms over one hundred major Christian doctrines. He offers readers a basic understanding of the Christian faith that will kindle a lifelong love for truth, which is foundational to maturity in Christ. Here are theologically sound explanations of the biblical concepts every Christian should know, written in a way that we can all understand. Sproul’s homespun analogies and illustrations from everyday life make this book interesting, informative, and easy to read.

We create Relief Projects by working with translators, publishers, and printers here in North America as well as overseas, and donate these resources through global missions networks. Through your generous gifts, these projects enable us to strengthen thousands of church leaders in Asia, Africa, and South America.

Resource

Author Ajith Fernando believes that much ministry failure results from neglect of the basics of the faith. Too often today's church is riveted on ministry technique to the neglect of leadership lifestyle.

In this book, Fernando identifies the foundational elements that allow you to be both effective and joyful in your service. He shows from Jesus' own ministry that relating to the people you minister to, retreating from busyness to prayer, being affirmed and empowered by God, discipling younger leaders, and gaining strength from God's Word must be at the heart of your ministry.

Rich in Scripture and full of stories from Fernando's own years of ministry, this book will help men and women commit themselves afresh to those vital basics of ministry that make for long-term service that is both fruitful and joyful.

What Is the Gospel? by Greg Gilbert

Goal: $6,100

100% Raised

Resource

'What is the gospel? It seems like a simple question, yet it has been known to incite some heated responses, even in the church. How are we to formulate a clear, biblical understanding of the gospel? Tradition, reason, and experience all leave us ultimately disappointed. If we want answers, we must turn to the Word of God.

Greg Gilbert does so in What Is the Gospel? Beginning with Paul's systematic presentation of the gospel in Romans and moving through the sermons in Acts, Gilbert argues that the central structure of the gospel consists of four main subjects: God, man, Christ, and a response. The book carefully examines each and then explores the effects the gospel can have in individuals, churches, and the world. Both Christian and non-Christian readers will gain a clearer understanding of the gospel in this valuable resource.

The God Who is There by D. A. Carson

Goal: $14,200

100% Raised

Resource

In February 2009, Don Carson presented a 14-part seminar entitled “The God Who Is There” at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis. This series will serve the church well because it simultaneously evangelizes non-Christians and edifies Christians by explaining the Bible’s storyline in a non-reductionistic way. It’s one thing to know the Bible’s storyline, but it’s another to know one’s role in God’s ongoing story of redemption. “The God Who Is There” engages people at the worldview-level.

Language

This Momentary Marriage

Goal: $6,500 - FUNDING COMPLETE

100% Raised

Resource

Reflecting on forty years of matrimony, John Piper exalts the biblical meaning of marriage over its emotion, exhorting couples to keep their covenant for all the best reasons.

Though personal selfishness and cultural bondage obstruct the wonder of God's purpose, it is found in God's Word, where his design can awaken a glorious vision capable of freeing every person from small, Christ-ignoring, romance-intoxicated views. As Piper explains in reflecting on forty years of matrimony: "Most foundationally, marriage is the doing of God. And ultimately, marriage is the display of God. It displays the covenant-keeping love between Christ and his people to the world in a way that no other event or institution does. Marriage, therefore, is not mainly about being in love. It's mainly about telling the truth with our lives. And staying married is not about staying in love. It is about keeping covenant and putting the glory of Christ's covenant-keeping love on display."

The Gospel as Center by TGC

Goal: $7,000

100% Raised

Resource

Important aspects of Christianity are in danger of being muddied or lost as relativism takes root in our churches today. What was historically agreed upon is now readily questioned and the very essentials of the Christian faith are in jeopardy. It’s time to reclaim the core of our beliefs.

To that end, D. A. Carson, Tim Keller, Kevin DeYoung, and other influential leaders have created this volume to defend the traditional gospel and to strengthen the church. The Gospel as Center will help you join in the movement—the movement dedicated to a Scripture-based reformation of ministry practices and the centrality of the gospel—and stand united under the conviction that what holds us together is worth fighting for.

Language and Situation
