"Revival, above everything else, is a glorification of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is the restoration of him to the center of the life of the Church. You find this warm devotion, personal devotion, to him."
D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Revival (Westchester, 1987), page 47.
When the Lord said to the Laodicean church, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock" (Revelation 3:20), he was on the outside of that door. They were so focused on their strengths and successes that they didn't see their weaknesses and needs -- and his absence. But the risen Lord humbly knocks and requests re-admittance, that he may glorify himself in their midst again by taking his rightful place at the center, so that his blessing may flow out on all around. How striking. How heart-warming.
