The Gospel Coalition

Al Mohler re-posted this over at his facebook page:

I don't know who deserves credit or blame for this, but it screams "don't take yourself too seriously."  Which is precisely how I feel about the "celebrity pastor" thing.  A pastor shouldn't take himself too seriously, and those who appreciate his ministry should avoid the same.  We take Jesus and His gospel very seriously; ourselves, not so much, except to watch our life and doctrine as Mark so wonderfully exhorted us.

I mean, after all, according to the poster above, I'm a hobbit version of an over the hill Rick James!  I think Mohler, Duncan, Piper, Dever and Platt are spot on!

Suddenly, I have an inexplicable urge to get back to the shire and get my jheri curl touched up.

Thabiti...

That was a great picture. Thanks for sharing it... I tried to sum up the fog of the week by telling my wife that I enjoyed the ministry of Dr. CJ Markalbiti DeChandleplatterpiper III.

http://yankeerev.wordpress.com/2012/04/21/dr-cj-markalbiti-dechandleplatterpiper-iii/

Now that the fog has disseminated somewhat I am going through the sermons again.

One Observation:
Although every speaker was greatly used by God, including yourself, most of my pastor friends who were not able to attend have connected with the theme of Discouragement in Ministry in both CJ's and Ligon's sermons. It is clear that we are discouraged bunch. Not that we are tempted to throw in the towel, but life is hard in the trenches. So, coming to an oasis like T4G was a great help.

At least, as I lay dying, I get to say to Al - "My brother. My Captain. My King."

the picture was edited by Josh Ruud, a seminary student at SBTS.

he has quite a good one of Dr. Moore and Tim Keller too.

A seminary student at Southern named Josh Ruud deserves credit for the picture. He did an awesome job!

My favorite thing about this is that you linked what a Jheri curl is.

I stared at this for a good five minutes before I could tell that that WASN'T Sean Bean.

Whoever did this is awesome.

Thanks brother! Though Platt looks the part, I certainly have a soft spot for the elves.

I'd have picked you for an elf with your appreciation for lithe athletic moves.
