Kindle Deal of the Day: Indescribable: Encountering the Glory of God in the Beauty of the Universe by Louie Giglio and Matt Redman. FREE.
Modern science allows viewers to see farther into space than ever before, and every step draws them closer to the God who breathed each star into existence. In Indescribable, the authors intertwine devotional insights with remarkable scientific facts that awaken both mind and spirit. As Giglio and Redman write, God turnswonderers into worshipers.

The "Busy" Trap:
Busyness serves as a kind of existential reassurance, a hedge against emptiness; obviously your life cannot possibly be silly or trivial or meaningless if you are so busy, completely booked, in demand every hour of the day.

The Consequences of Contraception:
Pastors cannot address the widespread sexual brokenness in our culture simply by encouraging married sex. They must also address the ideology and theology behind the brokenness, and contraception is Ground Zero for those discussions.

Barnabas Piper - Pastors' Kids are "Sinners in a Fishbowl":
Pray for your PKs. They face the see-saw battle between prideful hypocrisy and resentful rejection. Pastors wage a spiritual war, and too often their kids are either the weapons in the devil's hands or the casualties. Love your PKs with a genuine care.

What's the Secret to Viral Success? It's So Obvious:
The Atlantic, BuzzFeed, and Lionsgate are really different companies with really different cultures and really different definitions of success. But they share this in common: When you're in the hit-making business, you only know one thing for sure: What has already worked.

Without wishing to be fiddle-sticky, is evangelicalism on a trajectory towards natural theology with the popularity of Indescribable on one hand and the resurgence in support for six-day creationism on the other?

If I look at an iPhone, I can tell it's designed. But if I want to get even the slightest inkling of who designed it and what he was like, then I have to get that hefty bio on Steve Jobs off the shelf.

Philosophical arguments for the existence of a supreme being are two-a-penny, but the revelation of the Bible is unique and it provides its own point of contact with humanity.

I hope lots of people enjoy Indescribable but don't use the complexity of the universe as the source of their confidence in their salvation.
