My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less
Tullian Tchividjian Blog | March 12, 2012
So then, have we nothing to do to obtain righteousness? No, nothing at all! For this righteousness comes by doing nothing, hearing nothing, knowing nothing, but rather in knowing and believing this only--that Christ has gone to the right hand of the Father, not to become our judge, but to become for us our wisdom, our righteousness, our holiness, our salvation! Now God sees no sin in us. For in this heavenly righteousness, sin has no place. So now we may certainly think, "Although I still sin, I don't despair, because Christ lives--who is both my righteousness and my eternal life." In that righteousness I have no sin, no fear, no guilty conscience, no fear of death. I am indeed a sinner in this life of mine and in my own righteousness, but I have another life, another righteousness above this life, which is in Christ, the Son of God, who knows no sin or death, but is eternal righteousness and eternal life. For if the truth of being justified by Christ alone (not by our works) is lost, then all Christian truths are lost...On this truth and only on this truth the Church is built and has its being.

Tullian,
Always look forward to your posts! Always good stuff. I have been following the Lord for some 30 years and I'm still learning about justification and sanctification. Just listened to a great discussion on the White Horse Inn about this subject. I need to learn more.
I need to read your last two books... I'm sure they will help.
Love your downloads... I listen to your messages on ipod and in the car... you have become a good friend.

Luther's commentary on Galatians is one of the my all time pastoral favorites. Whenever the lions are nipping at my heels I'll take a day away to read whole sections of it again to get my bearings. Thanks for sharing this on a Monday.

WOW! I know that many pastors associated with TGC are trumpeting this message on a daily message but why aren't others? This truly is life changing and stirs up the affections for worshiping and obeying Christ. When one is anchored in this and swimming deeply in the truths of Justification (and sanctification) by faith, it is life changing!

My grandson put this page on Face Book and anything my grandson adds has got to be blessed. He is a bond servant and sold out to the Lord. I never knew a more committed Christian. When I grow up, I hope I have his integrity and obedience, and faith. He is a sermon without a word spoken. I am looking forward to gleaning encouragement from all these good folk and Pastor Tullian. YES, I am an ON MY KNEES G'MA. ON OUR KNEES TOGETHER, WE CAN SCATTER THE ENEMY AND OFTEN SATISFY THE HEART OF GOD.

Pastor Tullian, Thank you for preaching the truth of our justification and sanctification by faith so clearly and without buts and breaks...It's really making a difference in the lives of people.
Recently, I tried to clarify why I think some have responded to your book, Jesus + Nothing = Everything, with criticisms and accusations. I hope I have represented your perspective faithfully. If you are interested, you can read my comments here:

I really enjoyed the book. Thanks again.
