2020 has made it easy for us to identify with your rigid, wound-tight, ungrateful child. That’s why you constantly confront our Gospel-amnesia, saying, “My daughters and sons, you’re always with me because I’m always with you. Nothing will separate you from my love, exhaust my grace, or deplete my mercies.

All that is mine is yours. Your sins are forgiven, your life is hidden in Jesus, and his righteousness yours. It’s official—you’re citizens of heaven and co-heirs of the new earth.

Your sin, sorrows, wounds, and brokenness all have an expiration date. I have you in my heart and no one can take you from my hand. Come, my children, let us rejoice and be glad.”

Father, no matter who “wins” the upcoming election, we are secure, enriched, and beloved by our eternal election in Christ (Eph. 1:3-6). Make this unavoidably, heart-freeing-real to us, again. We are so ready to dance. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ peerless and praiseworthy name.
