“I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away—(not annihilated or replaced, but utterly transformed). And there was no longer any sea—(chaos, evil, darkness) and no more death, mourning, crying or pain” (Rev. 21:1-4). “Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst… (Rev.7:16).
Dear Lord Jesus, why spend the rest of our life on mission? Because you command it is enough of a reason. But 10,000 times better is knowing a life on mission is joining you in your commitment to make all things new. You haven’t called us to do anything for you, but all things with you. This fuels our hope with Gospel-steroids and greatly increases our joy. Here are 7-no-mores for which we give you thanks today, Jesus.
There will be no more “sea“—not a beachless new heaven and new earth, but an eternity 100% void of all chaos, evil, sin, and darkness. Hallelujah, our future will be crammed full of your truth, goodness, and beauty.
There will be no more “death, mourning, crying, pain.” We will never again experience death or pain in any form—not just physical death and pain, but also emotional, spiritual, mental, societal, relational, environmental brokenness. Thank you, Lord Jesus, thank you. Our only tears will be tears of joy, astonishment, and endless gratitude.
There will be no more “hunger and thirst” of any variety. All poverty, injustice, and privation will be gone. The category “hungry child” will cease to exist. “Not enough” will be replaced with “hyper-abundance”—all because of you, Jesus.
With our minds blown, hearts inflamed, and hands raised, we worship you, Jesus. Until you return, we will labor and love with you in all these arenas of brokenness, confident of the soon coming Day of all things new. So Very Amen
