“By the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me” (1Cor.15:10).
Dear Lord Jesus, on this “St Patrick’s Day,” one thing is for sure—Patrick of Ireland did not trust in the “luck of the Irish,” but in the mercy and grace of Abba, our Father. I probably won’t eat any corn beef and cabbage today, but I do want to feast on the riches of the Gospel the way he did, and be filled with his gratitude:
“I know for certain, that before I was humbled I was like a stone lying in deep mire, and he that is mighty came and in his mercy raised me up and, indeed, lifted me high up and placed me on top of the wall. And from there I ought to shout out in gratitude to the Lord for his great favors in this world and forever—favors that the mind of man cannot measure.” Patrick of Ireland
And I certainly, want to live and love all the way into the new heaven and new earth, craving, treasuring, and knowing your presence the way he did:
“Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.”
Saint Patrick
So Very Amen
