Over-Believing, Over-Trusting, Over-Loving Jesus Is Impossible

Lord Jesus, your righteousness is our salvation and your grace is our oxygen. Your love is our greatest joy and your sovereignty is our daily sanity. The meagerness of your birth, the perfection of your life, your death on the cross, your resurrection to life, your ascension to Abba’s right hand … they compel us to cry out, “Hallelujah what a Savior! Hallelujah, what a salvation!” And that was “just” your first coming.

It’s a good thing your second coming will glorify us, because otherwise we wouldn’t be able to sustain in the wonder, absorb the glory, enter the splendor of what you have prepared for us. But right now—on this Saturday in late 2023, you are already enthroned as “ruler of kings on earth” (Rev.1:5)—reigning over all things by your truth and grace.

Jesus, you will finish making all things new and beautiful. You will eradicate all things evil, mend all things broken, redeem all the pain behind our soon-to-be-wiped tears. Thank you, times 1000. We intensely crave the Day when lions and lambs will nap together, when trees will clap and mountains will sing to you. But especially so, when we—your graced, gathered, glorified Bride will give you the worship, love, and adoration you deserve. So Very Amen.
