This breakout session titled Bittersweet Sovereignty in Joseph’s Story and Ours with Harold Kim was delivered at The Gospel Coalition’s 2018 West Coast Conference in Fullerton, California.

Family dysfunction. Favoritism. Envy. Cover up. Forgotten. Unforgiven. The story of Joseph in Genesis reads like our own real life stories (and in ministry). And raises questions of: Can the sovereignty of God humble and heal us, if at all? What hope and experiential value can it deliver? This workshop wrestles with the bittersweetness of God being GOD in all kinds of suffering.

Harold Kim is the founding pastor of Christ Central of Southern California, and serves on the board for Christ Central Network (CCN) and as president of SOLA. He graduated from UC Berkeley, received his master of divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and his master of theology from Princeton Theological Seminary. He was ordained by the Presbyterian Church in America in 2001. Harold is gratefully married to Sun Hi and a happy father of two daughters, Taylor and Elizabeth. His great joy and passion is to see lives changed as Jesus Christ becomes central to everything.
