Christmas is a season of singing. We sing in the car, in the mall, and of course in the church. It’s a season of good news and great joy. Yet sorrow lingers as we reflect on the sin that stains this world Jesus blessed with his bodily presence 2,000 years ago. We sing this season, then, not only of the baby born in the manger but also the man hung on the cross. Jesus was born that man may no longer die, we sing in the old Charles Wesley carol.

Keith Getty and his wife, Kristyn, have been leading crowds across the country in singing Christmas songs, old and new, for the last six years on their national holiday tours. Keith joins me on The Gospel Coalition Podcast to discuss his “haunting” Christmas albums, his favorite and most hated Christmas songs, and what Christmas morning looks like in the Getty home with their three daughters.

We need one another. Yet we don’t always know how to develop deep relationships to help us grow in the Christian life. Younger believers benefit from the guidance and wisdom of more mature saints as their faith deepens. But too often, potential mentors lack clarity and training on how to engage in discipling those they can influence.

Whether you’re longing to find a spiritual mentor or hoping to serve as a guide for someone else, we have a FREE resource to encourage and equip you. In Growing Together: Taking Mentoring Beyond Small Talk and Prayer Requests, Melissa Kruger, TGC’s vice president of discipleship programming, offers encouraging lessons to guide conversations that promote spiritual growth in both the mentee and mentor.
