Abide: A Three Session Retreat in John 15

On the night before his crucifixion, Jesus spent the evening sharing a meal and teaching his disciples. In John 15, we read that Jesus wanted his disciples—then and now—to understand how vitally important it is to abide—in him, in his Word, and in obedience. Each session in this retreat explores the importance of abiding, as well as what it means to walk with Jesus on a daily basis.

Redeeming Friendship: How to Spot Cultural Lies and Embrace Biblical Understanding (Winfree Brisley)

In an age when technology makes communicating with others easier than ever, why do we feel so disconnected? Friendship is declining and loneliness is on the rise, but the Bible tells us we were made for relationships with others. During this retreat, we’ll consider why our understanding of friendship needs to be redeemed from false ideas in culture, and we’ll look to Scripture to understand how friendship with God and others is part of God’s redemptive work in our lives. Remember Your Joy: How Three Salvation Stories Point Us to Jesus

We all need reminders of God’s goodness and grace—and the Old Testament is full of examples of God’s faithfulness to his people. In this retreat, we’ll study three Old Testament salvation stories—Noah and the Ark, Abraham and Isaac, and David and Goliath—to see how they each point forward to the greater salvation found in Jesus Christ. This retreat seeks to illustrate how all the Bible’s stories fit together as we remember and rejoice in the joy of our salvation.

  • Session 1: Salvation Is Needed (40:53) – Melissa Kruger
  • Session 2: Salvation Is Substitutionary (41:47) – Jackie Hill Perry
  • Session 3: Salvation Is Won by Another (44:38) – Courtney Doctor

Seek His Face: Cultivating a Life of Persistent Prayer in a Noisy World (Megan Hill)

Each of us encounters daily distractions—some legitimate, some frivolous—that threaten to keep us from prayer. We know we should “pray without ceasing” (1 Thess. 5:17), but we often struggle to make that a reality. During this retreat, we’ll consider how to pray persistently in our noisy world. In each session, we’ll focus on a different challenge to the life of prayer, and we’ll seek to understand and apply Scripture to those common situations in order to grow as women who regularly seek God’s face.

  • Session 1: Persistent Prayer When Everything Else Seems More Interesting (34:03)
  • Session 2: Persistent Prayer When Everyone Is Looking for You (23:56)
  • Session 3: Persistent Prayer When No One Else Is Praying (36:23)

Abide: A Three Session Retreat in John 15

Redeeming Friendship: How to Spot Cultural Lies and Embrace Biblical Understanding

  • Session 1: What is the foundation of biblical friendship? Why do our friendships need redemption? In session one, Winfree Brisley answers these questions as she teaches from Proverbs 17:17. This session explores the impact of culture on our friendships and how to refocus them around Christ.
  • Session 2: In session two, Winfree explores how our relationships shape us, encouraging us to cultivate Christ-centered friendships. She discusses how 1 Samuel 18:1 and Titus 2 give us practical ways to pursue friendship inside and outside the church.
  • Session 3: As Christ’s love compels us to love one another, we can experience fruitful friendships. Winfree concludes the retreat by explaining what it looks like to be a friend in times of rejoicing, suffering, disappointment, and conflict.

Remember Your Joy: How Three Salvation Stories Point Us to Jesus

  • Session 1: Through the story of the flood, God reveals his unchanging character. Melissa Kruger uses Genesis 6:5–8:19 to explain that because God is just, gracious, and powerful, salvation is needed, provided, and effective.
  • Session 2: When God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son in Genesis 22, he obeyed immediately. In session two, Jackie Hill-Perry explains how Abraham’s obedience was directly tied to his unwavering faith in God, for whom nothing is too hard. She calls us to remember who God is and what he’s done when we’re tested and tried.
  • Session 3: In session three, Courtney Doctor teaches about the true champion in the story of David and Goliath. The true victor is not David, but the King who has won the battle for us—King Jesus who is our salvation and victory over sin and death.

Seek His Face: Cultivating a Life of Persistent Prayer in a Noisy World

  • Session 3: Anna’s example in Luke 2:36–38 shows that consistent prayer brings immediate and lasting encouragement. In session three, Megan explores the impact of faithful, persistent prayer.
